Full Job Description
We are seeking hard-working candidates for the position of a low-voltage Cable Technician. The technician will be responsible for pulling and terminating low voltage cables and installing communication devices in a variety of customer settings including commercial, education, and occasional data center installations.
PLEASE NOTE: This position requires regular travel throughout the state of Iowa to and from customer jobsites.
Day to Day Duties
- Travel from company office to customer job site as scheduled utilizing company-provided transportation.
- Pulling and routing low voltage cables (fiber, CAT 5, CAT 6, speaker wire).
- Secure, terminate, & test installed cable with standard tools and testing devices.
- Installing wiring pathways as specified including hangers, cable trays, ladder racks, and equipment racks.
- Installing and testing a variety of devices such as intercom speakers, volume controls, call buttons, and similar devices based on the specific requirements of each installation.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as requested or required.
Skills & Qualifications
· High School or equivalent is required. Similar or related work experience is preferred but not required.
· Reliability, positive attitude, and a strong work ethic are essential.
- Ability to work under minimal supervision as well as in team environments while maintaining project timelines.
- Clean driving record and valid driver's license required.
· Ability or willingness to learn new skills as required including, but not limited to reading and understanding specification documents, blueprints, and other project documents.
· Must be comfortable with heights, working on ladders, and scissor lifts.
· Must be able to lift 50 pounds, and able to reach and work above your head.
· Must be able to see and distinguish different colors, read small print and hear and recognize audible signals such as dial tones and other test signals.
· Demonstrate an understanding and maintain adherence to all work safety policies, procedures, and customer requirements.
· Maintain and protect all tools, equipment and material for assigned projects.
· Present a professional image to the client, and be respectful of surroundings.
· Maintain cleanliness of all work equipment, truck, and customer’s location.
Job Details
- Job Type is Full Time, with seasonal positions available.
- Hourly rate based on applicant’s experience and Job Type.
- Work day is normally 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday, but may need to be at job sites before or after regular hours if needed.
- Occasional overtime based on project requirements.
- Training will be provided by our skilled professionals and overseen by job foreman at customer worksite.
