CNC Shop Foreman

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated CNC Shop Foreman to lead our machining team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This pivotal role involves overseeing daily operations of CNC machining processes, ensuring precision, quality, and efficiency across all projects. Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of CNC machinists, including setup, operation, and maintenance of CNC milling machines and lathes such as Fanuc-controlled equipment.
• Oversee machine setup procedures, ensuring proper calibration using precision measurement tools like calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM).
• Review blueprints and mechanical drawings to interpret specifications accurately, utilizing GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) standards for quality assurance.
• Program CNC machines using G-code and M-code languages; develop and modify CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) programs for efficient machining processes.
• Conduct quality inspections utilizing measurement instruments and visual checks to verify parts meet strict tolerances and specifications.
• Implement lean manufacturing principles to optimize workflow, reduce waste, and improve productivity within the shop environment.
• Maintain detailed documentation of machine setups, production logs, inspection reports, and safety records to ensure compliance with industry standards.

Requirements

• Proven experience in CNC machining with strong knowledge of CNC G-code programming and machine operation on equipment such as CNC milling machines and CNC lathes.
• Proficiency in CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software like SolidWorks and general blueprint reading skills for mechanical blueprints interpretation.
• Familiarity with electrical discharge machining (EDM), grinding tools, hand tools, power tools, welding techniques, and tooling management.
• Mechanical knowledge with the ability to troubleshoot machine issues quickly while maintaining safety protocols.
• Skilled in using precision measuring instruments including calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, micrometers, and coordinate measuring machines for quality control purposes.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes including manual machining, lathe work, grinding operations, and assembly procedures.
• Ability to lead a team effectively while promoting safety standards and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Basic math skills necessary for precise measurements and calculations related to machining tasks.
• Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles to streamline operations and enhance productivity.

Key Responsibilities

• Shop Leadership & Supervision: Manage, train, and schedule machinists across day and night shifts. Coordinate workflow to ensure on-time delivery, minimize downtime, and maintain active shift handoffs.
• Setup & Machining: Perform hands-on setup, proven-out programming adjustments, and operation of 3- and 4-axis Haas Vertical (VMC) and Horizontal (HMC) Machining Centers.
• Quality & Part Inspection: Perform in-process and final part inspections to maintain strict tolerances. Utilize precision tools and Zeiss Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) for quality verification.
• Technical Troubleshooting: Solve complex fixture, tooling, and machining issues on the shop floor. Optimize speeds, feeds, and cycle times.
• Safety & Maintenance: Enforce workplace safety protocols, 5S standards, and oversee routine machine maintenance schedules.

Required Qualifications

• 5 years of experience in CNC machining with demonstrated supervisory or leadership experience.
• Advanced expertise setting up and operating 3- and 4-axis Haas horizontal and vertical mills.
• Strong working knowledge of Zeiss CMM inspection software and standard dimensional inspection techniques.
• Deep understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing), precision measurement tools, and blueprint reading.
• Proven ability to manage multi-shift workflows and communicate effectively across day and night teams.

Work Schedule & Shift Details

• Shift: 4 days per week, 10 hours per day (Monday through Thursday). Enjoy a 3-day weekend every Friday through Sunday.

Pay: $60,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
