(Associate Director-level)
Project Manager III (Associate Director-level) supporting the Virology group. This is a high-touch, strategic PM role working across 4 teams with varying needs not a clinical operations role.
Team Breakdown:
- HIV Early Molecular Teams (2 teams) – ~30%: Supporting teams transitioning from research/pre-clinical into Phase I studies. Includes IND filing, study start-up, team management, and project reporting.
- HIV Cure Asset Team – ~10%: Strategy-focused; minimal work as the team is still kicking off.
- Neglected & Emerging Virus / Pandemic Preparedness Team – ~40%: Supporting a clinical team responding to an active virus outbreak in Africa (e.g., Ebola). Involves study support, evidence generation, and external collaboration. Least defined but high-visibility.
Education & Experience Requirements:
- 10 years of relevant experience and a BS in science; 8 years of relevant experience and a MS or MBA; or 4 years of relevant experience and a PhD in a scientific field or a PharmD, DVM or MD degree.
- Experience should include 5 years of participation in cross-functional project management activities.
- A scientific background is preferred.
Specific Job Responsibilities:
- Responsible for managing one complex or two less complex project teams.
- Works in partnership with project leaders to ensure timely, efficient, and effective meetings, and to ensure adequate progress on team activities between meetings.
- Co-Chairs Project Team meetings and is responsible for coordinating complex team operations and communications.
- Directs project communications and ensures that all project customers are fully informed and knowledgeable of project activities and their status.
- Organizes Project Management support for various functional areas on the Project, attends sub-team meetings; organizes ad hoc working groups.
- Ensures that Development Plans integrate timing, scope and resources.
- Proposes and implements plans to resolve such issues and execute corrective actions.
- Manages project data (including timelines) in G.Plan (Planisware) and works with other project managers to align and validate data.
- May author sections of Project Team documents.
- Organizes preparation of high-quality documents for review by governance committees in collaboration with the project team and supports the Development Project Team (or Program Strategy Team) at Governance meetings.
