External Communications Manager (Contract)
Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated External Communications Manager to join the Residential Marketing team on a contract basis. This role is pivotal in fostering meaningful connections between our business and external stakeholders, focusing on developing and activating audience-focused content across social media, the corporate blog, and earned media for our Residential portfolio.

- Location: Parsippany, NJ
- Pay Rate $55/hr
Responsibilities (Essential Duties)
The External Communications Manager will be responsible for a wide range of tasks, including:
Content Strategy & Development
- Gain a deep understanding of the Residential business, its products, core audiences (Contractors, Distributors, Retailers, and Homeowners), and the industry landscape to create compelling content.
- Lead the social media and blog content strategy and development for Residential, ensuring alignment with business needs and audience requirements.
- Lead content ideation/story mining and content development, partnering with Creative Services and external partners to produce high-quality, on-brand content.
- Manage the end-to-end editorial workflow for the corporate blog, including ideation, SEO strategy, content development, and ensuring necessary approvals are secured for timely publishing.
Stakeholder Collaboration & Execution
- Serve as the primary representative for External Communications in all Residential marketing planning meetings.
- Partner with the External Communications Center of Excellence (COE) on earned media strategy and execution, including developing integrated communications plans to highlight product launches, plant announcements, customer profiles, and thought leadership.
- Develop press releases, talking points, web copy, and social media copy for key external announcements.
- Collaborate with the COE to integrate Residential content plans into the respective editorial calendars for earned, social media, and blog channels.
- Provide external communications counsel and templates to top-tier Residential customers to support and amplify their business success and social impact.
Community & Performance
- Collaborate with the COE to drive both reactive and proactive social media engagement.
- Serve as the point of escalation for Residential topics in the shared social care response database.
- Leverage monthly/quarterly reporting and real-time data to continuously assess earned media, social, and blog performance to identify opportunities for improvement.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, or a related field.
- 5 years of related experience.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills; proven capability to manage programs from strategy to detailed execution.
- Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to effectively partner with multiple internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to drive consensus across a diverse, cross-functional organization.
- Knowledge of and ability to leverage data analytics to inform decisions and drive continuous improvement.
