Role Summary
Randstad USA is hiring a Field Service Technician for a full-time, direct hire opportunity in the Chicagoland area. This role operates independently from a company service vehicle, supporting field operations by maintaining and repairing electrical and power systems at commercial sites. Ideal for experienced electricians, military technicians, or electrical maintenance professionals seeking a stable, long-term opportunity.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform field dispatches, preventative maintenance, and onsite electrical diagnostics
- Operate a service vehicle and manage daily workflows independently
- Troubleshoot electrical/power distribution systems, UPS, transfer switches, and controls
- Read and interpret electrical blueprints and single-line diagrams
- Maintain parts inventory, service logs, and documentation
- Follow all PPE and OSHA/NFPA 70E safety requirements
- Collaborate with technical teams to resolve complex issues
- Occasionally travel for training or special projects
- Work safely on elevated platforms (8 feet) as needed
Qualifications
Must meet one of the following:
- 6 years in electrical, electro-mechanical, or process controls field
- Technical diploma or Journeyman/Electrician Certification 4 years of experience
- 5 years of commercial electrical experience military technical background
Required Skills:
- Strong electrical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
- Familiarity with three-phase systems, generators, UPS, and power electronics
- Knowledge of OSHA and NFPA 70E safety protocols
- Proficient with test equipment and electrical schematics
- Mechanical aptitude and strong attention to detail
Soft Skills:
- Self-starter with excellent time management
- Clear verbal and written communication
- Professional and team-oriented
- Comfortable using laptops, tablets, and reporting tools
Physical Requirements
- Lift up to 50 lbs regularly (occasionally 70 lbs)
- Frequent standing, bending, reaching, and squatting
- Ability to climb ladders and work on elevated platforms
- Must maintain a clean driving record
