Senior Network Administrator

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced and technically proficient Senior Network Engineer/Administrator to join a leading enterprise operations team. This critical role involves administering, monitoring, and maintaining complex voice and data infrastructure across a large-scale corporate and specialized utility environment. The ideal candidate will ensure the highest levels of availability, performance, and security while adhering to industry-leading standards (including NERC/SERC compliance where applicable).

This is a senior-level position requiring expert-level troubleshooting, strategic planning, project leadership, and the ability to provide technical guidance to junior staff. Responsibilities

Network Engineering & Architecture

• Design & Strategy: Plan, lead, and execute complex network architectures, including multi-segment infrastructure, LAN/WAN, and VPN systems. Participate in long-term network design and strategy.
• Optimization: Continuously monitor network performance, conducting capacity planning and traffic analysis to maximize uptime and reliability.
• Cloud & Modernization: Implement and maintain cloud-based network solutions and support communication systems upgrades.
  
  

Operations & Maintenance

• Hardware Management: Install, configure, and maintain routers, switches, firewalls, virtualization platforms, and wireless devices.
• Physical Infrastructure: Plan and maintain structured cabling (voice and data), performing moves, adds, and changes as required. Ensure accurate diagrams and records of the environment are maintained.
• Vendor & Project Management: Coordinate with vendors for installations, manage contracts, and lead network-related projects including budgeting and timeline management.
  
  

Support, Leadership & Compliance

• Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all network operations comply with applicable NERC and SERC standards, as well as other industry best practices. Maintain evidence retention for audit readiness.
• Technical Leadership: Provide expert-level support for complex connectivity issues and root cause analysis. Offer technical guidance and day-to-day direction to Network Administrators and PC Technicians.
• Business Continuity: Research and test business continuity plans to ensure network resilience.
  
  

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Management Information Systems, or a related field from an accredited university.
• A minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in an Information Technology or computing environment.
• At least three (3) years of direct, hands-on experience as a Network Administrator or Engineer, installing, monitoring, and maintaining complex voice and data networks in a medium to large-scale organization.
• Core Competencies: Demonstrated ability in critical-thinking, problem-solving, planning and organizing, and effective written/verbal communication.
• Direct experience working in a utility or highly regulated industry (e.g., finance, government). - Preferred
• Familiarity with NERC (North American Electric Reliability Corporation) or SERC (Southeastern Electric Reliability Corporation) compliance standards and evidence retention practices. - Preferred
• Experience implementing and maintaining cloud-based network solutions and supporting communications systems. - Preferred
