Network Operations Engineer

Job Summary

Our Client is seeking a dedicated, fully remote Network Operations Engineer to maintain and optimize our critical financial services network infrastructure. You will be a key player in ensuring the stability, performance, and security of our Cisco, Palo Alto, Meraki, and Arista environments, operating within the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and applying ITIL best practices. This role operates during 8:00 AM-5:00 PM EST.

Responsibilities

• Incident & Request Management: Primary function involves monitoring and responding to incoming ServiceNow incident and request queues, providing timely Level 2 support to other IT groups.
• Network Maintenance & Configuration: Maintain, implement, and troubleshoot network services across multiple geographies and data centers, specifically supporting Cisco, Meraki, Palo Alto, and Arista equipment (switch, router, wireless, firewall).
• Security & Firewall Administration: Review, update, and implement new firewall rules and security updates. Assess network and device performance to satisfy internal and external security audits (e.g., PCI compliance).
• Continuous Improvement: Proactively review the network to discover opportunities for improvement and formally recommend and implement solutions for network optimization and automation.
• Documentation & Knowledge Sharing: Create and maintain clear network diagrams using Microsoft Visio. Contribute to knowledge management standards by authoring and updating Knowledge Base (KB) articles for current and future systems.
• Troubleshooting & Investigation: Utilize SolarWinds and direct device interaction to investigate and resolve complex technical issues of moderate scope, including packet modeling and data flow analysis.
• Project Contribution: Work collaboratively with other IT teams (Development, Infrastructure) to execute network solutions and contribute significantly to larger, company-wide IT projects.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma
• GED
• CCNA, PCNSA, Arista ACE, or equivalent, or commitment to acquire one or more of these within first 12-24 months
• 2 years experience in network engineering in an enterprise production network environment or equivalent.
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• 4 years experience in network engineering in an enterprise production network environment with exposure to multiple platform environments including Arista, Cisco, Palo Alto, Citrix Netscaler, F5 load balancers.
