Governance Risk & Compliance Process Specialist

Job Summary

We are hiring a GRC Process Specialist for a 6-month enterprise initiative supporting our Financial Institution clients. This onsite San Antonio role is perfect for a methodical professional who excels at process mapping and risk identification. You will partner with cross-functional teams-from Payment Operations to Compliance-to document workflows, validate controls, and surface opportunities for automation. We need a strong communicator who can sit down with a Subject Matter Expert, ask the right probing questions, and turn "how we do things" into formal, reusable documentation for audit and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

• Partner with cross-functional teams (e.g., Implementation, Support, Payment Operations, Compliance, Risk) to document current-state operational workflows end-to-end.
• Conduct structured interviews and working sessions with SMEs to understand how work is performed , including systems, handoffs, and decision points.
• Develop clear, easy-to-understand process maps, workflows, and narratives that accurately reflect existing operations.
• Capture and clearly articulate process gaps, inconsistencies, or manual workarounds , escalating themes where appropriate.
• Organize documentation into a consistent, reusable format suitable for operational reference, audit support, or future process improvement efforts.
• Validate documented workflows and risk/control mappings with process owners to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Provide regular status updates on progress, risks, and dependencies to project leadership.
  
  

Qualifications

• 3 years of experience in process documentation, business analysis, operations, risk management, workflow design, or internal audit environments.
• Experience in financial services, payments, fintech, or regulated environments.
• Demonstrated experience interviewing stakeholders and synthesizing complex information into clear documentation.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex processes clearly and concisely.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and AI productivity tools (Copilot, Word, Excel, PowerPoint); familiarity with process mapping tools (Vizio, Lucid Chart).
• Strong project management skills with the ability to work independently and meet defined timelines in a fast-paced environment.
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with risk and control concepts (e.g., preventive vs. detective controls, manual vs. automated controls).
• Experience documenting processes for technology-enabled or platform-based operations.
• Exposure to audit, regulatory exams, or control documentation frameworks is a plus.
