Role Description The Machinist role is a full-time, on-site position based at Randolph Tool Co in Hartville, OH, and is responsible for setting up and operating CNC machines to produce precision parts according to engineering drawings and specifications. Day-to-day tasks include reading and interpreting blueprints, selecting appropriate tools and materials, measuring and inspecting parts and making adjustments to ensure tolerances are met. The role also involves performing basic machine maintenance, maintaining a clean and safe work area, and completing production documentation as required. Machinists must also collaborate with supervisors, engineers, and quality team members to resolve issues, improve processes, and support on-time delivery of high-quality jobs.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a machinist, toolmaker, or in a related trade; precision manufacturing experience is a plus. (4 years experience required)
- Strong mechanical aptitude, with experience operating CNC machining equipment and using basic hand tools and measuring instruments.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and work instructions, and to follow standard operating procedures accurately.
- Proficiency in precision measurement and inspection, including use of calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other quality control tools.
- Knowledge of shop math, tolerances, and machining principles, including feeds, speeds, and material characteristics.
- Commitment to safety practices in a manufacturing environment, including proper use of personal protective equipment and adherence to safety guidelines.
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to identify and correct machining issues with minimal supervision.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with production, engineering, and quality teams.
- Willingness to learn new processes, adapt to changing production needs, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
