Diversified Agriculture Instructor

Diversified Agriculture Instructor Randolph Technical Career Center offers 10 full-day technical education programs, each of which offers college credits or industry recognized credentials (IRCs) to students as part of their high school education. Randolph Technical Career Center has a Diversified Agriculture faculty opening beginning in the 2026-2027 school year. The Diversified Agriculture Program immerses students into the fields of Agriculture and Natural Resources. Students explore these areas of study with community partners through field trips, completion of Industry Recognized Credentials and onsite projects. Our program provides students with the skills and knowledge necessary to pursue careers and college studies in a variety of paths from farming, landscaping, and forestry to environmental science, animal science, and agribusiness. Through seasonal and year-long units, students are exposed to agricultural business, plant and soil science, animal science, agricultural mechanics, and horticulture while processing information through a scientific lens. Throughout the program, Diversified Agriculture students will revisit the underlying themes of production, processing, marketing, distribution, financing, and development of agricultural commodities and resources including food, fiber, wood products, natural resources, horticulture, and other plant and animal products and resources. They will also conduct inquiries into food systems and apply principles of nutrition, biology, microbiology, chemistry, and human behavior to the development of food and other products. Students engage through both classroom and experiential learning. RTCC’s Diversified Agriculture program offers students exposure to: Farm Stand Insect habitats such as bee keeping A seasonal farm stand On-site garden Heated greenhouse and high tunnel Sugar house Sawmill Tractor and other farm equipment Production and sale of goods Landscaping and gardening services provided to the community Students are introduced to the skills, understanding, and techniques required for a variety of work on the farm and in the forest. Graduates of the Diversified Agriculture Program are prepared for higher education and/or career upon successful completion of the program. Candidates are required to have 5 years of Industry experience in the agriculture and/or Natural Resources field. Obtaining Licensure as a Career & Technical Education instructor with the Vermont Agency of Education, if not already licensed, will be part of the first 2 years of employment. Unlicensed instructors must take part in a teacher prep program. A full list of Diversified Agriculture Critical Proficiencies can be found here.
