What are the responsibilities and job description for the Alternative Instructor position at Randolph Public School District?
The AIM Academy is an alternative education program within Randolph High School. The Special Education teacher will facilitate student success in academic and interpersonal skills through academic courses of study and implement district approved curriculum, documenting teaching and student progress/activities/outcomes; addressing specific needs of students; providing a safe and optimal learning environment; and providing feedback to students, parents and administration regarding student progress, expectations and goals.The ideal candidate will: -Collaborate with school personnel, parents and various community agencies for the purpose of improving the quality of student outcomes, developing solutions and planning curriculum.-Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.-Promote equity and appreciation of diversity-Maintain classroom management and consistently implement the AIM Behavior Level System.-Promote high standards and expectations for student achievement-Plan and deliver effective instruction according to MA curriculum frameworks.-Execute the subject matter knowledge requirements specific for High School Special Education Teachers,-Address the human growth and development, physical, emotional/mental, social, intellectual, and moral issues-Plan, organize, and implement an instructional program for students in a self-contained classroom that are identified with cognitive and social deficits that affect their learning to enable them to achieve their maximum potential-Develop weekly lesson plans that contain all of the required components.-Deliver instruction utilizing appropriate resources, equipment, materials, technology and instructional strategies.-Provide differentiated instruction based on the students individual level of functioning and preferred learning modalities.-Provide a positive role model of appropriate and respectful interactions with students and staff.-Develop, teach, and review clear and concise classroom rules, routines, procedures, and expectations.-Develop daily/weekly schedule of instructional and non-instructional activities for paraprofessional, if assigned-Maintain constant and ongoing communication regarding students and all facets of the program.-Follow the appropriate chain of command when questions, issues, and/or concerns arise.-Accurately complete all required paperwork within the designated timelines.-Create and support implementation of behavior improvement plans-Perform other duties as deemed appropriate by the DirectorQualifications: -Massachusetts Teacher License in Moderate (5-12)-Experience working with high risk, special needs students-Ability to collect behavioral data Preferred: -Crisis Prevention Intervention Certification (CPI), and familiarity with and/or experience working with diverse populations in a school setting-Specialization in literacy-SEI EndorsementTerms: 182 school days in accordance with the Randolph Education Association (REA) collective bargaining agreementSalary placement will be consistent with REA salary schedule.
