What are the responsibilities and job description for the Groundskeeper/General Maintenance position at Randolph-Macon Academy?
Randolph-Macon Academy is seeking a full-time Groundskeeper to help maintain the cleanliness, safety, and overall appearance of our 135-acre campus. Additionally, the role will support our maintenance and campus services teams as needed.
Schedule:
Flexible hours, 8-hour workdays. Weekend and overtime work may be required for special events.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain lawns, trees, shrubs, and hedges to ensure a well-groomed campus
- Perform routine landscaping tasks including mowing, trimming, pruning, weeding, and watering
- Operate landscaping equipment.
- Remove debris from walkways, roads, and common areas, including snow removal
- Collect trash and maintain cleanliness across campus grounds
- Assist with general maintenance and other tasks as assigned
- Perform basic preventative maintenance and minor repairs on grounds equipment
Qualifications and Requirements
- Ability to lift at least 50 lbs
- Ability and willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Availability to work weekends and special events as needed
- Proven experience zero turn mowers and other landscaping equipment required
- Proven equipment maintenance experience a plus.
- Pesticide Applicator Certification is a plus
Pay: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour
