What are the responsibilities and job description for the Animal Shelter Attendant position at Randolph County Government?
Responsible for feeding and caring for the animals as well as maintaining the shelter in a clean condition. Duties also include assisting in the incoming animal process and showing animals to the public. Tact and courtesy are required in contact with the public. Work is performed under general supervision and is evaluated through conferences and by inspection.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Graduation from high school and one year of clerical and/or animal shelter experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Comments:
- Maintains feeding schedule for all sheltered animals by providing appropriate food and water at appointed times.
- Maintains cleanliness of shelter by washing and disinfecting the kennels and cat cages on a daily basis.
- Provides supplemental waste removal during the day to keep kennels clean and odor free.
- Brings animals scheduled for euthanasia to the euthanasia room and assists by restraining the animal for the technician.
- Assists in the incoming animal process by gathering information from the owner and entering into computer.
- Assists with the adoption process by showing animals to the public.
- Performs related work as required.
