Job Description

Summary/Objective

The Assistant Director of the Randolph Fund supports Randolph College’s annual giving strategy by managing a large portfolio of Randolph Fund prospects and helping to build strategy to acquire, retain, and upgrade donors. In collaboration with the Director of the Randolph Fund and partners across Institutional Advancement, the Assistant Director helps move donors through the pipeline by consistent engagement, personalized stewardship, and targeted solicitation.

The Randolph Fund includes direct mail, email and digital marketing, a student calling/digital engagement program, and volunteer/peer engagement (e.g., class-based outreach and Reunion giving), including the College’s annual Give Day. This position manages a portfolio of approximately 500 prospects with target gift opportunities up to $9,999 and uses data and performance metrics to drive donor contact strategies and results.

Essential Functions

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions.

  • Manage a portfolio of approximately 500 annual fund prospects (target gift opportunities up to $9,999) and execute a consistent cadence of outreach, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship via phone, email, digital channels, and in-person or virtual visits, as appropriate.

  • Set and achieve annual goals (dollars, donors, and retention/upgrade objectives) in collaboration with the Director of the Randolph Fund; track progress and adjust strategies based on performance.

  • Plan, implement, supervise, track, and analyze the student calling/digital engagement program; hire, train, schedule, and manage student employees.

  • Apply data-driven strategies by producing and analyzing reports and queries within Raiser's Edge, including segmentation for acquisition, retention, upgrade, and reacquisition, and maintaining accurate contact and engagement activity records.

  • Coordinate with colleagues to ensure appropriate referral/escalation of prospects based on capacity and engagement, and to support integrated stewardship and impact messaging.

  • Support annual giving and engagement events and initiatives (including Give Day, Reunion/WildCat Weekend, and related stewardship activities), including committee or volunteer coordination as assigned.

  • Perform other duties as assigned to support annual giving outcomes and overall advancement priorities.

Competencies

  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills; ability to convey donor impact clearly and compellingly.

  • Strong relationship-building skills; comfort initiating donor conversations and making direct asks.

  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain strong attention to detail.

  • Analytical and metrics-driven; able to interpret performance data and translate insights into action.

  • Proficiency with CRM/database systems (preferably Blackbaud Raiser's Edge) and related tools that feed the student digital outreach; ability to learn new platforms quickly.

  • High integrity and discretion in handling confidential donor and institutional information.

  • Collaborative, team-oriented approach with a strong commitment to service and donor experience.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Student workers/callers (student calling/digital engagement program)

Work Environment

The position typically works in an office environment with occasional travel. Must prioritize work/office presence during critical giving times (e.g., calendar and fiscal year-end, Give Day, WildCat Weekend, Reunion). Must be available to work some evenings and weekends, particularly in support of student calling/digital engagement.

Physical Demands

May occasionally lift 10–15 lbs. or may walk and/or bend in performance of the job function.
