Precision Prep and Finishing Technician – Scenic Props
We’re seeking a skilled and dedicated technician to join our Scenic Props team, specializing in precision prep work, taping, and automotive finishing. In this hands-on role, you’ll prepare metal and fiberglass surfaces for painting, ensuring exceptional quality and supporting our Paint Lead in achieving outstanding finishes.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare vehicle and prop surfaces for painting by sanding, masking, cleaning, and priming to achieve smooth, flawless finishes.
- Clean and degrease all substrates to remove dirt, oil, and contaminants, inspecting and correcting any imperfections prior to painting.
- Assist paint technicians with material preparation, booth setup, and maintaining a clean, organized workspace and equipment.
- Complete all paint preparation processes, including priming and surface conditioning.
- Mask and protect areas not designated for paint or coating applications to ensure precision and quality.
Qualifications
- 1–3 years of experience in auto body paint preparation, finishing, or a related role in a body shop, collision center, or entertainment construction environment.
- Strong understanding of surface preparation techniques, including sanding, priming, and masking.
- Familiarity with auto body tools and materials, such as sanders, primers, and masking products.
- Exceptional attention to detail, ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, and commitment to workplace safety.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational training in auto body repair or finishing is a plus.
