Randall Construction is currently seeking an
experienced and strategic Purchasing Director to work in our in Apopka,
FL headquarters. We
are excited about this important role and are determined to consider the best
and brightest candidates who meet our requirements. While transitioning into this role, you will
work closely with our Purchasing Leader of 28 years learning past & current
policies, practices, and procedures as you help us chart our future-course with
innovation, creativity, and technology.
Position Summary
The Purchasing Director will lead and optimize our
procurement operations. This role will oversee all purchasing functions, vendor
relationships, contract negotiations, and material sourcing strategies to
support multiple large-scale construction projects. The ideal candidate is a strong leader with
deep knowledge of construction procurement, supply chain management, and cost
control in a fast-paced, multi-project environment.
Essential Functions
Leadership & Strategy
- Develop
and execute purchasing strategies aligned with company growth and project
demands
- Lead,
mentor, and develop the purchasing team
- Establish
KPIs and performance metrics to drive efficiency and accountability
- Collaborate
with executive leadership on cost-reduction initiatives and long-term sourcing
plans
- Oversee
procurement of materials, equipment, and subcontractor services
- Negotiate
pricing, terms, and contracts with vendors and suppliers
- Build
and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure reliability and
competitive pricing
- Evaluate
vendor performance and implement continuous improvement initiatives
- Monitor
market trends, material pricing, and supply chain risks
- Develop
cost control strategies to maximize project margins
- Ensure
compliance with contracts, budgets, and company policies
- Identify
and mitigate procurement-related risks
- Partner
with project managers, estimators, and operations teams to align purchasing
with project schedules
- Support
estimating teams with pricing, lead times, and supplier insights
- Ensure
timely procurement to avoid project delays
- Implement
and optimize purchasing systems, tools, and workflows
- Standardize
procurement procedures across projects
- Drive
process improvements to increase efficiency and visibility
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain
Management, Construction Management, or related field, AND/OR
- 8 to12 years of purchasing/procurement
experience in commercial construction
- 3 to 5 years of leadership/management
experience
- Strong negotiation, contract management, and
vendor relations expertise
- Proven ability to manage budgets and reduce
costs in a multi-project environment
- Experience with subcontractor procurement and
large-scale commercial projects
- Familiarity with construction management
software (e.g., Procore, Sage, or similar preferred)
- Strong analytical and financial acumen
- Strategic thinking and problem-solving

- High attention to detail and organization
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced,
deadline-driven environment
Physical Requirements
This
is primarily an office position and, as such, you must be able to sit up to six or more hours in an eight-hour
workday, lift light objects such as files and paperwork frequently during the
day, and objects weighing up to 10 pounds occasionally during the day. You must also be able
to bend, stretch, crouch, and lift as required by the job.
