Yard Supervisor

Responsibilities

The supervisor will oversee the operations of unloading railcars of product into barns or trucks depending on what the customer prefers using equipment supplied by the company

Job Description

• Work with customers in a courteous and professional manner.
• Load and unload product from railcars using heavy or light duty machinery.
• Assist with recording and maintenance repairs of facility equipment as directed.
• Monitor and maintain quality of inventory
• Maintain and promote a strong safety culture and follow all safety policies, procedures, and regulations. Identify and communicated workplace hazards.
• Follow all company policies, procedures and safety requirements.
• Conduct regular housekeeping duties such as sweeping, shoveling, scraping, and cleaning up spills.
• Perform other duties as needed or assigned to ensure facility operates smoothly and customers receive excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

• Logistics Coordination: Directing railcar spotting, scheduling truck arrivals, and managing facility traffic flow.
• Equipment Oversight: Monitoring conveyors, augers, shakers, and heavy machinery to ensure peak operational efficiency.
• Safety Compliance: Enforcing OSHA and FRA standards, hazardous material handling protocols, and proper PPE usage.
• Inventory Control: Tracking inbound manifests against storage capacity and outbound shipments to minimize demurrage.
• Team Leadership: Assigning duties, conducting safety briefings, and training operators on specialized machinery.

Qualifications

• Operations experience preferred
• Ability to work extended hours and weekends to meet demands
• Ability to operate machinery such as loaders, conveyors, and tractors.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs.
• Able to work in a dust and adverse weather conditions and temperatures
• Able to climb railcars using ladders and stairs to the height of 2
