- Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup
- Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques and preventive care strategies
- Assist the dentist during examinations, treatments, and procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques
- Take and interpret dental radiographs (medical imaging) while maintaining strict infection control standards
- Review and update medical records accurately within electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by safeguarding patient information and documentation review processes
Skills
- Proficiency in dental software such as Eaglesoft and Dentrix for scheduling, documentation, and record management
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control protocols, and aseptic techniques
- Experience with pediatric dentistry practices and pediatric patient care is highly desirable
- Ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently during various dental procedures
- Excellent patient care skills with a compassionate approach to diverse patient needs including pediatrics
- Familiarity with medical coding, documentation review, and medical terminology relevant to dental settings
- Knowledge of general dentistry procedures, infection prevention standards, and medical imaging techniques
