Description: The principal function of the assistant preschool director is to assist and work closely with the director of the preschool, performing a number of tasks that help ensure the facility functions effectively. Help create and develop the preschools curriculum, as well as ensure curriculum implementation. The Assistant director works closely with the director to manage all aspects of the classroom experience; they also interact regularly with instructors, providing training, guidance, and discipline as necessary. They will work directly with children in a variety of settings, including the classroom, and will help to create a safe and fun learning environment. Additionally, the assistant director may communicate directly with parents, helping to resolve concerns and providing information on children’s progress. The assistant director will also help to handle logistical elements of the business, such as scheduling, advertising and marketing through social media.
This is a Full-time position as Assistant Director which includes being a classroom teacher for 20 hours per week.

Personal Qualifications:
● Must be at least 21 years old
● High school diploma or equivalent
● CDA, AA or BA degree preferred in ECE or related field
● Completed the 12 required ECE units
● 1-2 years experience in Preschool Administration
● Prior experience working with young children
● Knowledge of relevant federal, state and local regulations
● Ability to problem solve in a variety of programming, staff and parent situations
Job Responsibilities:

● Work with the Director and teachers to establish, evaluate, and revise curriculum
● Assist the Director with planning, managing, marketing and directing a preschool program
● Teach and mentor children when needed
● Maintain paperwork, keeping files on each child and proof of meeting government regulations
● Supervise and evaluate teachers, provide mentoring and training to help teachers improve their skills
● Attend all required professional developments and meetings
● Place orders for textbooks, supplies, etc from the approved budget
● Under the lead of the Director, oversee the process for student registration and withdrawals, including management of waiting lists, using technology integration when possible
● Ensure maintenance of accurate school and child records in strict compliance with Title 22
● Participate in Rancho Christian Special events, such as but not limited to Vision Night, Rancho Gala, Open House and Back to School Night and other preschool special events
● Ability to problem solve in a variety of programming, staff and parent situations
● Assist the Director in assessing and updating curriculum as needed
● Assist the Director in planning and facilitating monthly staff meetings
● Assist in ascertaining staff needs for in-service training on specific topics at monthly staff meetings
● Assist in providing devotionals and spiritual enrichment at meetings
● Social Media responsibilities include managing and creating content for platforms like Instagram and Facebook to build brand awareness and visibility,foster an audience community, and drive an increase of students.Handle tasks such as scheduling posts, analyzing data, and monitoring trends. Respond to comments, manage community engagement and analyze performance metrics.
Areas of Expected Proficiency:
● Maintain accurate substitute list, coordinate substitutes and scheduled
● Update information of the website to keep it current in a timely manner
● Update information on social media channels to keep it active and current
● Create content and photos for social media channel as a marketing tool
● Reply to social media posts when appropriate
● Conduct marketing research/date comparisons of preschool website/social media channels
● Collaborate and/or consult with Rancho Marketing Department when appropriate
● Compose and distribute CDC information when a communicable disease impacts class(es)
● Review and lead all emergency situations, such as and not limited to natural disasters, threats on campus, etc including classroom
● Perform other duties as assigned
Working Conditions
Office and classroom environments. Frequent interruptions from staff and parents with resultant change of focus. Requires the ability to prioritize and accomplish tasks despite numerous distractions. Must be able, in case of emergency, to pick up and carry a child up to 40 pounds.
Physical Expectations:
- Able to sit, stoop, bend, lift, reach, stand and walk for sustained periods of time
- Able to use hands and fingers to perform tasks.
- Able to speak clearly and hear well enough to communicate effectively.
- Able to work in a wide range of weather conditions
- Able to lift or pull at least 50 pounds
- Able to speak, read and write in English
