Job Description: Secondary Physical Education Teacher

Title: P.E. 7-12 Teacher

Supervisor: Secondary School Principal

Classification: Hourly- Part Time- Rate based on Rancho Salary Schedule

Description: A 7-12 Physical Education Teacher is responsible for passionately providing instruction in physical education, promoting student progress, and promoting and managing a safe, positive environment.

Spiritual Qualifications:

  • Demonstrates a passion for Christ and his Kingdom through personal spiritual discipline and public ministry.
  • Seeks to grow in that relationship with Christ through personal spiritual discipline, education, accountability, and service to his Kingdom.

Professional Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Physical Education or related field from an accredited university or college required
  • Master’s degree and/or California teaching credential desirable
  • Desire to serve in co-curricular activities, if needed
  • Obtain a certificate of negative result for TB screening before hire
  • Obtain a CPR certification and keep updated is required
  • Cleared live scan background check

Areas of Expected Proficiencies:

  • Responsible for planning and implementing physical education activities, monitoring students, and evaluating student outcomes, including differentiating instruction
  • Emphasis on sports-related skills, movement patterns, games, and fitness activities
  • Provide an atmosphere and environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development of students
  • Prepare and implement lesson plans, providing for appropriate learning experiences for each student based on the California Common Core Standards for Physical Education P.E. Standards
  • Teach safety rules related to each activity
  • Research and order physical education equipment
  • Communicate and interact with students, parents, staff, and the community with Christlike care
  • Proficiency in demonstrating effective organizational skills
  • Self-motivated
  • Communicate, engage, and collaborate with fellow faculty and staff in a collegial and supportive manner
  • Demonstrate professional practices in teaching in alignment with Rancho guidelines and policies

Other Expectations:

  • Actively and collaboratively participate as a member of the school faculty
  • Keep phone and email communications responsive per Secondary Employee Handbook
  • Perform all other duties as assigned
