Ranch Management Consultants is seeking a General Manager to help continue our company’s 40 years of helping agriculturists produce healthy land, happy families and profitable businesses. This position will help lead and shape the future of Ranch Management Consultants. This is a key leadership role for someone who is deeply aligned with our mission and energized by the opportunity to guide a small, high-impact team serving the ranching community.
We are a mission-driven organization committed to helping agriculture thrive through education, coaching, and practical business management. Our team currently consists of 3 full-time and 3 part-time staff, along with a network of approximately a dozen contract team members. We aim to operate with a high level of collaboration, accountability, and purpose.
Position Overview
The General Manager role carries responsibility for team leadership, communication, operational execution, and strategic coordination across all areas of the business.
Key Responsibilities
● Provide leadership and direction to the team, fostering a strong, aligned, and accountable culture
● Ensure effective coordination and communication across all team members and contractors
● Drive execution of strategic priorities, including enterprise mix and development initiatives
● Support continuous improvement and growth of the organization
● Coordinate delivery of Ranching for Profit Schools, Workshops, and Intensives
● Lead weekly staff meetings and quarterly strategic planning sessions
● Hold effective one-on-ones with team members on a regular schedule
● Oversee staffing, performance evaluations, and staff development
● Work with CEO on developing and reporting against organizational budgets
Additional Opportunities (Optional Based on Interest & Skillset)
● Participate in the teaching of Ranching for Profit Schools
● Deliver RFP Workshops and Intensives
● Facilitate Executive Link programs
● Contribute to content creation that supports educational and outreach efforts
Qualifications
● Passion for helping agricultural families and businesses thrive (required)
● Minimum of 5 years’ experience leading a multi-person team, that could include an ag family business
● Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills
● Prefer a mid-career person looking for a new and exciting challenge
● Proven track record of delivering strategic goals while balancing competing demands
● Background or experience in agriculture (preferred, but not required)
Compensation
Salary will be commensurate with experience.
