Job Summary:
Biochemist will join an emerging and growing company working to address needs in such cutting-edge technologies as Next-Generation Sequencing, drug discovery, single cell encapsulation and manipulation and point-of-use microbe detection. The job location is in Beverly, in an easy-to-access major center right off route 95/128, amongst a well-established and vibrant NorthShore biotech ecosystem. The Biochemist is expected to be versatile, working at the chemistry/biology interface, particularly working on chemical and physical characterization of advanced specialty chemicals and micro- and nano-materials, in addition to evaluating these materials in biological assays.
Required skills:
- B.S./B.A. in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Biology, Material Science or related field with 2 years of experience
- Experience in biological assays
- Experience in microfluidics is preferred
- Excellent communication and writing skills
- Experience in record keeping in laboratory notebooks
- Excellent organization skills, flexibility, efficiency and ability to multi-task
- Experience with Microsoft Office
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively withing multi-disciplinary teams
- Versatile and self-motivated with a willingness to learn about and understand new technologies, techniques and procedures.
Duties:
* Perform biological assays following established protocols
* Analyze and test the performance of materials following established protocols
* Summarize and report results in a laboratory notebook and in periodic meetings
* Establish and implement standard operating procedures
* Contribute to product development and customer support
* Maintaining the highest professional standards in the work environment and in safety
