Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive clinical experience across various specialties, including critical care, emergency medicine, geriatrics, pediatrics, and outpatient care. The Registered Nurse will be responsible for comprehensive patient assessments, medication administration, wound care, and documentation while adhering to HIPAA regulations and infection control standards. Experience with specialized procedures such as botulinum toxin treatment, IV infusion, catheterization, and ostomy care is highly desirable. Candidates with a background in hospital medicine, trauma centers, ICU, PICU, or post-acute care are encouraged to apply.
Duties
- Conduct thorough patient assessments including vital signs, physical examinations, and medical history documentation.
- Administer medications and injections accurately following aseptic techniques and physician orders.
- Manage airway and ventilator support for critical patients; perform advanced procedures such as tube feeding and gastric lavage when necessary.
- Assist with diagnostic evaluations including laboratory specimen collection/processing and medical imaging procedures like sonography and mammography.
- Provide specialized care for diverse patient populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, neonatal ventilator management, dementia care, Alzheimer's care, and patients with developmental disabilities or in memory care units.
- Document all patient interactions meticulously within EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner while maintaining HIPAA compliance.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams for discharge planning, case management, pain management strategies, and health coaching.
- Ensure infection control protocols are followed rigorously; perform sterile processing and ostomy or wound care as needed.
- Participate in ongoing training related to ICD-9/ICD-10 coding, CPT coding, medical terminology updates, and other professional development activities.
- Support emergency response efforts including triage in urgent or emergency room settings; utilize basic life support skills during patient stabilization.
Experience
- Proven clinical experience in hospital medicine or acute care settings such as Level I or Level II Trauma Centers; ICU or PICU experience preferred.
- Experience working with diverse populations including children (pediatrics), neonates (neonatal ventilator), seniors (geriatrics), hospice & palliative medicine, or long-term care facilities such as nursing homes or assisted living communities.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks is required.
- Competency in performing advanced procedures such as suturing, IV insertion/infusion therapy, catheterization (urinary or central lines), phlebotomy, and specimen collection/processing.
- Knowledge of infectious disease protocols and infection control practices essential for inpatient/outpatient settings.
- Prior experience managing complex cases involving trauma medicine or emergency room scenarios is highly valued.
- Additional skills that enhance candidacy include working with people with disabilities or developmental challenges; experience in post-acute or sub-acute care environments; familiarity with Workers' Compensation law; esthetic laser treatments; DME management; gastrostomy tube feeding; spinal tap procedures; nursing home experience; teaching hospital exposure; outpatient clinic experience; home & community care knowledge; neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) familiarity; and chronic disease management.
