Kitchen Night Shift Lead

Pay: Starting at $18.00 per hour, based on experience
Schedule: Evening and night shifts, including weekends
Location: Ramsey’s Parkway Drive Thru, Pizza & Pub

Position Overview

We are seeking a dependable, hands-on Kitchen Night Shift Lead with the potential to advance while bringing with you a great attitude!

This person will work alongside the kitchen team while helping direct the shift, operate the expo station, maintain reasonable ticket times, and ensure every order is complete and prepared correctly before it leaves the kitchen.

This is not a position for someone who only wants to supervise from the sidelines. The Night Shift Lead must be willing and able to step onto any kitchen station when needed, communicate clearly, and keep the kitchen organized during busy periods.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Run the expo station and control the flow of orders through the kitchen.
  • Read tickets accurately and make sure all parts of each order are completed together.
  • Monitor ticket times and address delays before they become larger problems.
  • Communicate with cooks, pizza staff, servers, and bartenders regarding order status.
  • Check food for accuracy, quality, presentation, and proper portions.
  • Direct and support kitchen employees throughout the shift.
  • Assign cleaning, stocking, prep, and closing responsibilities.
  • Move employees between stations when necessary to keep orders moving.
  • Step onto the pizza, oven, prep, sub, or dish station when help is needed.
  • Make sure employees follow recipes, portion standards, and food-safety procedures.
  • Help train new employees and provide clear, respectful correction when necessary.
  • Handle routine order problems and remakes promptly.
  • Monitor food waste, unnecessary remakes, and improper portioning.
  • Make sure food is properly labeled, dated, stored, and rotated.
  • Confirm that closing duties are completed before employees leave.
  • Make sure cooking equipment is properly shut down and the kitchen is left clean, stocked, and ready for the next shift.
  • Document significant employee, equipment, food-quality, or service issues for management.
  • Contact the Kitchen Manager or owner when a situation requires higher-level approval.

What Success Looks Like

A successful Night Shift Lead:

  • Remains calm and organized during busy periods.
  • Keeps the team working without yelling or creating unnecessary conflict.
  • Notices when a station is falling behind and responds before service breaks down.
  • Holds employees accountable while treating them respectfully.
  • Does not stand at expo watching the kitchen struggle.
  • Checks that orders are accurate before they leave the kitchen.
  • Completes a proper closing instead of leaving unfinished work for the morning staff.
  • Handles ordinary shift problems without repeatedly calling another manager.

Qualifications

  • Previous restaurant-kitchen experience is required.
  • Expo, line-cook, oven, or pizza-kitchen experience is strongly preferred.
  • Previous shift-lead or supervisory experience is helpful but not required for the right candidate.
  • Must understand kitchen timing and how multiple stations work together.
  • Must be dependable and available for evening, weekend, and closing shifts.
  • Must have strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be comfortable directing coworkers and addressing performance issues respectfully.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods and work in a hot, fast-paced kitchen.
  • Must be able to lift approximately 40–50 pounds when necessary.
  • Must follow all food-safety, sanitation, and workplace-safety requirements.

Advancement Opportunity

Advancement will be based on:

  • Ability to control ticket times and successfully run expo.
  • Dependability and attendance.
  • Leadership and communication with employees.
  • Food quality and order accuracy.
  • Completion of cleaning and closing duties.
  • Ability to train and hold employees accountable.
  • Ability to manage a shift without constant assistance from senior management.

A performance and compensation review will be conducted after approximately 60–90 days.

Pay: From $18.00 per hour
