About the job

Rampart Bio is working on cutting-edge science in the gene therapy space to advance breakthroughs in rare diseases and is looking for a Scientist to lead our molecular biology efforts or a Molecular Biologist.

Ideally this candidate is finishing their Postdoctoral Fellowship, has experience with engineering DNA outside the cell and modifying DNA inside the cell, has experience with lenti and AAV viral vectors, understands DNA plasma design, and has patent experience.

You'll report to the Director of Gene Delivery Technology and be responsible for DNA sequencing, genetic engineering, protein analysis, and other techniques to better understand the molecular mechanisms underlying various biological processes.

Key Responsibilities :

• Serve as molecular biology subject matter expert.
• Drive evolution and advancement of Rampart’s core gene therapy technology.
• Conceive novel DNA vector design elements and engineering approaches to achieve desired vector properties.
• Apply engineering approaches to generate DNA libraries to support screening of candidates for pipeline programs.
• Execute vector engineering through DNA sequence design, DNA synthesis, cloning, and / or assembly.
• Work with Gene Delivery Technology team members to drive novel vector synthesis methods that ensure manufacturability.
• Conceive and execute experiments to discover platform attributes (such as integration analysis) and cellular factors / mechanisms that drive desired platform properties;

collaborate with broader Research team members to execute experiments as needed.

Support continued protection and expansion of company’s intellectual property through experimental and written contributions to patent application.

Qualifications / Requirements :

• Preferred Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, or in Biophysics, Molecular Genetics, or related fields.
• 2 years of industry experience in nucleic acid engineering; both viral and non-viral experience desirable.
• Experience with cellular assays to determine vector properties a plus.
• Good organizational and communication skills.
• Independent, motivated, and ability to work with a sense of urgency.
• Position located onsite in northeastern Los Angeles, CA.
• Ability travel : domestic and international when required.

Compensation, Benefits & Additional Information

Compensation range : $95,000 - $115,000 commensurate with qualifications and dependent on the position.
