Project Manager


Job Summary

Under the direction of the Project Director, the Project Manager oversees and manages all aspects of a large commercial construction project, including but not limited to subcontracts, billings, payment applications, and all modifications to the project. Responsible for delivering a completed project on time and within the specified budget.

This role is dedicated to a Westland Construction’s Fairbanks, Alaska project and requires relocation to Fairbanks for approximately 1.5 years. Housing and a vehicle are provided in addition to salary.


Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Leads and coordinates the project team to ensure the project is completed on time, on budget, and to specifications.
  • Delegates work and assignments to team members based on expertise, work experience, and time constraints.
  • Supports the training, coaching, and mentoring of project staff.


Duties/Responsibilities

  • Knowledgeable across multiple areas of the construction process.
  • Fosters healthy and professional relationships with coworkers, subcontractors, and project owners.
  • Manages the assigned project from inception to completion.
  • Is involved in project planning, budgeting, and identification of resources needed.
  • Monitors the progress of construction activities on a regular basis and holds or attends regular status meetings with the project team and all stakeholders.
  • Develops and manages project documentation including but not limited to: progress reports, submittals, invoicing, purchase orders, schedules, RFIs, subcontracts, change orders, and associated logs.
  • Leads regular project meetings with clients, architects, and engineers.
  • Manages the construction process for the project and is responsible for understanding and allocating the financial aspects of the project.
  • Communicates effectively with superintendents, clients, subcontractors, and management.
  • Identifies and mitigates risk associated with subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Edits and approves subcontractors’ scope of work.
  • Conducts site inspections and visits throughout pre-construction and the construction process.
  • Addresses questions, concerns, and/or complaints throughout the project.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, local, industry, contractual, and company regulations, standards, specifications, and best practices.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • Willingness and ability to relocate to Fairbanks, Alaska for approximately 1.5 years for the duration of the project.


Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, which may include Construction Management, Business, or Engineering.
  • 4 years of related experience required.


Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
  • On-site presence at the Fairbanks, Alaska project location.


Salary : $120,000 - $140,000
