JOB PURPOSE

As a Litigation Director, you’ll provide strategic and operational leadership across the personal injury litigation department while independently managing a select portfolio of high‑value or complex cases. This role ensures exceptional legal outcomes by setting litigation strategy, overseeing lead attorneys and their teams, personally handling advanced litigation matters, and driving consistency, compliance, and performance across the department through effective use of systems, budgets, and firm standards.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

More specifically, you’ll:

Provide leadership and direction to Lead Litigation Attorneys, ensuring consistent execution of litigation strategy, legal standards, and firm policies across all litigation teams.

Oversee litigation cases from filing through resolution by supervising lead attorneys responsible for client strategy, pleadings, discovery, motions, and trial preparation.

Independently manage and litigate a designated caseload of complex, high‑exposure, or strategically significant personal injury cases from filing through settlement or trial.

Partner with lead attorneys to analyze complex cases, assess liability and damages, and guide high-level trial, settlement, and risk management strategies.

Ensure exceptional client experience and outcomes by supporting lead attorneys in client communications, handling escalations, and directly managing clients on assigned cases.

Review case performance, legal work product, and key filings to ensure accuracy, quality, and compliance with firm standards and best practices.

Draft, review, and approve advanced legal pleadings and motions, and personally conduct or support critical depositions, mediations, arbitrations, and trials as needed.

Establish, optimize, and enforce department-wide litigation workflows, performance metrics, and standards using the firm’s case management systems.

Oversee litigation budgets and financial performance for the department while managing costs and resources on personally assigned cases.

Mentor, coach, and develop Lead Attorneys and senior litigators, providing performance training, feedback, coaching, and succession planning.

Stay current on case law, statutes, and procedural rules, translating legal developments into actionable guidance for litigation teams.

Qualifications:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience

Juris Doctorate degree with active admission to the Bar in state(s) of practice.

8 years of personal injury litigation experience, including trial experience and progressive leadership or supervisory responsibility.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Advanced expertise in tort law, civil procedure, and personal injury litigation strategy.

Proven ability to lead and manage senior attorneys while maintaining an active litigation caseload.

Strong strategic, analytical, and decision-making skills with experience handling complex, high-value cases.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to influence clients, attorneys, and executive stakeholders.

Demonstrated success in negotiation, mediation, arbitration, and trial advocacy.

Exceptional organizational skills, with the ability to balance leadership responsibilities and hands-on litigation work.

Financial and operational acumen, including experience managing litigation budgets and driving efficiency.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and case management software, with the ability to operate in a paperless environment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Extensive experience leading personal injury litigation teams while maintaining responsibility for complex or catastrophic injury cases.

Salary : $200,000 - $300,000
