Role Description This is a contract, on-site English-Spanish Interpreter role based in Longmont, CO. The interpreter will provide consecutive and, when needed, simultaneous interpretation between English and Spanish during client meetings, attorney consultations, and case preparation sessions. Responsibilities include accurately conveying legal information, client narratives, and case updates while preserving tone, meaning, and confidentiality. The interpreter may assist in translating short written documents or communications, such as client statements, simple letters, and intake forms. The role also involves collaborating with attorneys and staff to ensure clear communication, maintaining professional boundaries, and adhering to ethical standards in all interactions.
Qualifications
- Strong bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish, with the ability to interpret accurately and fluently in both directions.
- Experience or training in consecutive and/or simultaneous interpretation, preferably in legal or community settings.
- Familiarity with immigration terminology and procedures, or willingness to learn legal vocabulary related to immigration law.
- Excellent listening, note-taking, and verbal communication skills, with close attention to detail and accuracy.
- Demonstrated commitment to professionalism, confidentiality, and ethical standards in interpreter conduct.
- Ability to work on-site in Longmont, CO, and collaborate effectively with a diverse team and client base.
- Prior experience in a law firm, court, social services, or nonprofit environment is preferred but not required.
