We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated System Architect to join our System Architecture Group and lead the architecture of advanced GEO space programs.

 

The System Architect will be a key member of program teams, responsible for defining and driving system-level solutions from concept through delivery. Working closely with Product Management, Engineering, Program Management, and customers, this role will ensure that complex space systems meet mission requirements, performance objectives, reliability goals, and schedule commitments.

 

This position is ideal for a hands-on technical leader who combines deep space engineering expertise with strong interpersonal skills, thrives in dynamic environments, and enjoys solving complex multidisciplinary challenges.

 

What you will be doing

 

System Architecture & Technical Leadership

  • Define and maintain system-level architecture for GEO space programs throughout the program lifecycle.
  • Translate customer and mission requirements into robust technical solutions.
  • Drive architectural trade studies and system optimization activities.
  • Support program execution from concept definition through integration, verification, qualification, and delivery.
  • Ensure architectural consistency and technical integrity across all program elements.

 

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Product Management to translate customer needs into system requirements and architecture.
  • Collaborate with hardware, software, FPGA, communications, mechanical, thermal, reliability, radiation, and validation teams.
  • Serve as a central technical focal point across disciplines and development activities.
  • Support customer technical discussions, proposal activities, and technical reviews.

 

Program Execution

  • Lead and participate in major engineering reviews, including SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR, and customer reviews.
  • Manage system-level risks, technical budgets, and interface definitions.
  • Support integration, troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and anomaly resolution.
  • Guide engineering teams toward successful execution of aggressive program milestones.

 

Innovation & Continuous Improvement

  • Contribute to future architecture concepts and technology roadmaps.
  • Promote reuse of architectural assets, methodologies, and best practices across programs.
  • Identify opportunities to improve system performance, reliability, manufacturability, and development efficiency.

 

Background & Requirements

  • B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in system engineering or system architecture roles.
  • Proven experience in the space industry, preferably with GEO satellite systems or space communications platforms.
  • Strong understanding of multidisciplinary system design and integration.
  • Experience leading technical activities across multiple engineering disciplines.

 

Technical Expertise

The successful candidate should possess substantial experience in several of the following areas:

  • Space system architecture and engineering.
  • Reliability engineering and space qualification processes.
  • Radiation effects, mitigation techniques, and fault-tolerant design.
  • High-performance embedded systems and computing platforms.
  • Digital design and FPGA-based systems.
  • Communication systems, networking, and space communication architectures.
  • Hardware/software/FPGA integration.
  • Requirements management, verification, and validation.
  • System performance analysis and technical trade studies.

The salary range for this position is $130,000- $170,000. Ramon.Space will consider relevant work experience, skills, education, and training when putting together an offer for this position.
