Rate: Hourly $25-$40

Job Objective:

The Equipment Services Division supports those facilities through routine and skilled maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, replacement, and equipment service. This position works on treatment-plant and related facility equipment ranging from basic mechanical repairs to more complex equipment troubleshooting.

Compensation:

Hourly $25-$40 - Pay ranges depending on experience.

Work Schedule:

Full-Time (40hrs/week with occasional overtime required)

No night shifts, weekends or holidays unless called out

Rotating On-call

Responsibilities:

· Perform routine and skilled maintenance and repair on water and wastewater treatment facilities and related equipment.

· Service pumps, blowers, engines, motors, chemical feeders, filters, bar screens, valves, piping, air compressors, heating/cooling equipment, aeration equipment, and other mechanical and hydraulic equipment used at water and wastewater facilities.

· Monitor facilities and equipment to identify leaks, malfunctions, abnormal conditions, and needed repairs.

· Identify and diagnose treatment-plant equipment and control issues and assist in determining appropriate corrective action.

· Fabricate or machine simple repair parts as needed and safely use welders, compressors, power tools, and hand tools.

· Read and understand equipment diagrams, manufacturer cut sheets, blueprints, and other technical information needed to perform service work.

· Maintain accurate electronic and paper records documenting maintenance and repair work performed.

· Apply working knowledge of electrical equipment and electrical safety when performing assigned work.

· Perform preventive maintenance and repairs to equipment, buildings, and related facility components as assigned.

· Operate assigned tools and equipment safely and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, supervisors, operators, and customers.

· Participate in rotating on-call coverage and respond to after-hours callouts when assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

· Knowledge of the operation and maintenance of water and wastewater process equipment.

· Working knowledge of pumps and controls, motors, gears, diesel generators, chlorinators, and related plant equipment.

· Ability to detect equipment or operational problems and use sound mechanical judgment to assist with troubleshooting and repair.

· Ability to read meters, gauges, flow charts, equipment diagrams, cut sheets, and blueprints.

· Basic mathematical, analytical, mechanical, and communication skills.

· Proficiency with computers and Microsoft 365 for daily operations and maintenance documentation.

· Ability to safely operate a variety of assigned hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment.

· Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of the REC operations and maintenance team.

Education, Professional Credentials and Experience:

· High school diploma or GED.

· Valid driver's license with an acceptable motor vehicle record.

· Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to learn industrial water and wastewater equipment.

· Basic computer, mathematical, communication, and analytical skills.

· Ability to meet REC pre-employment requirements, including applicable physical, substance screening, and background investigation requirements.

Preferred Experience

· One year of experience in a similar role involving process-equipment installation, maintenance, or repair.

· Previous mechanical and/or electrical experience.

· Experience or education related to environmental science, water quality, water treatment, wastewater operations, or similar industrial/municipal systems.

Work Conditions

The position requires regular use of hands and tools and may require standing, walking, sitting, reaching, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Employees must frequently lift or move up to 50 pounds and may occasionally handle loads up to 100 pounds. Work may occur in wet or humid conditions and around moving mechanical equipment, fumes or airborne particles, chemicals, electrical hazards, outdoor weather, vibration, and elevated noise levels. Work at water and wastewater facilities may also require climbing stairs and accessing tanks or other process areas in accordance with REC safety requirements.
