What are the responsibilities and job description for the PRODUCT ENGINEER position at RAMCO SPECIALTIES INC?
Objective
The Product Engineer translates manufacturing design inputs into documented Ramco outputs for its departments, employees, and suppliers.
Essential Functions
- Provide technical expertise about product performance
- Provide a comprehensive review of customer product drawings, requirements, specifications, and industry requirements at award of business. Review quote to confirm all requirements were followed
- Translate product requirements into internal drawings, Bill of Operation, Bill of Materials, and Work Instructions as needed. Create part numbers in the ERP system
- Coordinate information to Quality, Purchasing, and/or Manufacturing/Operations
- Lead Engineering Department in Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and Product Conformance and Safety (PCS) through understanding of part function. Work with customer and Sales to communicate all requirements
- Participate in customer presentations as necessary, develop technical presentation materials, in complete performance testing and create technical summaries or professional technical analysis reports as required
- Update job knowledge by studying trends in fastener engineering; participate in educational opportunities; read professional publications; maintain personal networks; participate in professional organizations
- Enhance the department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments
- Responsible for following personal and departmental Quality Assurance requirements
- Other various duties, as assigned, aligned with meeting company or departmental objectives

Required Education and Experience
- 0-3 years Product Engineering or similar experience. Automotive industry and/or previous fastener experience desirable.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or engineering Technology preferred. Relevant job experience in lieu of Engineering Degree acceptable.

Print and specification reading and interpretation and creation using AutoCAD Inventor, Strong Mechanical aptitude, Process Improvement mindset, Analyzing Information, Verbal Communication, Informing Others, Continual Improvement, Attention to Detail, Thoroughness, Dealing with Complexity, Statistics, Lean workplace, general knowledge of manufacturing and machining practices.

The Product Engineer will frequently spend time on the manufacturing floor as well as in the office. While on the manufacturing floor, the Product Engineer will be required to wear eye and hearing protection. Safety-toed shoes are highly recommended around and on manufacturing equipment.
Salary : $52,000 - $60,000
