Job Overview
We are seeking a positive and detail-oriented Oral Surgery Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will provide chairside support during oral surgery procedures, ensuring a smooth and comfortable experience for patients. You will help facilitate efficient surgical workflows, maintain strict infection control protocols, and support the clinical team with a variety of technical and administrative tasks. Our office is dedicated to making the patient experience here as pleasant and comfortable as possible.
Duties
- Assist the oral surgeon during surgical procedures by preparing and passing instruments, sutures, and other supplies with precision and efficiency
- Ensure all surgical instruments and equipment are sterilized, properly maintained, and ready for use in accordance with aseptic techniques and infection control standards
- Take dental X-rays and CT scans to assist in diagnosis and treatment planning
- Monitor vital signs, airway, and patient comfort throughout procedures
- Manage medical documentation, including updating electronic medical records using Carestream, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Support the front desk staff by scheduling appointments, verifying patient information, and managing medical records with attention to detail
- Maintain a clean, organized clinical environment
- Assist with patient education on post-operative care instructions and dental terminology explanations to enhance patient understanding. Spanish speaking a plus!!
Qualifications
- Experience in dental assisting within a general dentistry or specialized oral surgery setting
- Proficiency in Carestream is a plus
- Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques
- Ability to perform X-ray procedures accurately. Dental x-ray license preferred.
- Good communication skills and a positive attitude when interacting with patients and team members
- Ability to handle multiple responsibilities efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Bilingual (Spanish) preferred
- Salary negotiable based on experience
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
Expected hours: 8 – 32 per week
