Responsibilities
- Accurately transcribe detailed clinical notes during patient examinations, capturing ophthalmic observations, diagnoses, treatment plans, and physician instructions.
- Assist physicians by documenting patient histories, symptoms, and examination findings in real-time using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) or Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
- Manage and organize medical records, ensuring all documentation complies with privacy regulations and practice standards.
- Support the clinical team by preparing charts, updating patient information, and verifying insurance details.
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology related to ophthalmology to facilitate precise documentation.
- Maintain a high level of accuracy in medical documentation through proficient typing skills and attention to detail.
- Collaborate with the team during patient flow to ensure timely data entry and minimize wait times.
- Participate in ongoing training on EMR/EHR systems and stay current with best practices in medical scribing within ophthalmology.
Requirements
- Prior experience in medical office settings or as a medical scribe is highly preferred; familiarity with ophthalmology is a plus.
- Strong transcription skills with the ability to quickly and accurately convert spoken language into detailed written records.
- Proficiency with EMR or EHR systems for efficient documentation and record management.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and ophthalmic procedures to ensure precise note-taking.
