Quality Manager
Summary
RAM Tool, Inc. is an industry leader that specializes in custom machining and building of aluminum & zinc die cast dies. A family owned and operated company since 1979! Our plant is a state of the art 80,000 square foot facility that is clean, safe, climate controlled, and the air is purified with Heat Steam units throughout the facility.
The Quality Manager is responsible for leading the company’s Quality Management System (QMS), ensuring compliance with ISO 9001, AS9100, and customer-specific requirements. This role provides strategic and hands-on leadership in quality assurance, supplier quality, and continuous improvement, ensuring that products and processes consistently meet customer, regulatory, and industry standards.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead, maintain, and continuously improve the company QMS to meet ISO 9001/AS9100 requirements.
- Collaborate with the Plant Manager to prioritize and schedule work through the Inspection Lab.
- Direct the Quality team (inspectors, technicians) through prioritization, coaching, and accountability.
- Lead quality audits (internal, customer, and third-party), ensuring successful certification and compliance.
- Develop, implement, and monitor quality standards, inspection processes, and product acceptance criteria.
- Drive corrective and preventive action systems (CAPA) to resolve customer complaints and systemic issues.
- Train employees across functions on quality procedures, inspection techniques, and compliance requirements.
- Develop and maintain KPIs for quality performance; report regularly to executive leadership.
- Partner with operations and engineering on root cause analysis, continuous improvement, and defect reduction.
- Provide technical assistance to customers, vendors, and other departments of the company.
- Oversee supplier quality, including supplier audits, qualifications, and corrective actions.
- Lead First Article Inspections (FAI), PPAP submissions, and customer-required documentation.
- Manage departmental budget and resource planning.
Qualifications

Education and/or Experience
- 7 years of progressive quality experience in manufacturing (aerospace, defense, or precision machining preferred).
- 3 years of leadership/supervisory experience.
- In-depth knowledge of ISO 9001 and AS9100 standards.
- Strong background in GD&T, inspection methods, and metrology.
- Knowledge and ability to operate CMM machining equipment a big plus.
- Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, SPC, and continuous improvement tools.
- Strong analytical, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and customer-facing skills.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Solid understanding of the fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
