Role Description This is a part-time Assistant Accountant/Bookkeeper role based in Denver, CO, with a hybrid work arrangement that combines in-office work with the option to work from home on designated days. The Assistant Accountant/Bookkeeper will support daily and weekly bookkeeping activities, including recording transactions, reconciling bank and credit card accounts, and maintaining accurate general ledger entries for multiple clients. Responsibilities include assisting with accounts payable and receivable, preparing and processing invoices and payments, and supporting payroll data entry and review. The role will help compile financial reports, budgets, and forecasts, organize documentation for tax preparation, and ensure that records are complete and audit-ready. The team member will collaborate with senior accountants, communicate with clients regarding routine financial inquiries, and use cloud-based accounting software and secure file-sharing tools to deliver timely, accurate work.

Qualifications

  • Strong bookkeeping and accounting skills, including general ledger maintenance, bank reconciliations, and familiarity with financial statements.
  • Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks or similar), spreadsheets, and cloud-based financial tools.
  • Experience supporting accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoicing, and basic payroll processes.
  • Solid organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple client files, meet deadlines, and maintain accurate documentation.
  • High attention to detail, strong numerical aptitude, and the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies.
  • Clear, professional written and verbal communication skills for collaborating with team members and interacting with clients.
  • Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment, maintain confidentiality, and handle sensitive financial information with integrity.
  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience; prior experience in public accounting or outsourced bookkeeping is a plus.
  • Interest in professional growth, openness to learning new technologies, and willingness to adapt to evolving processes and client needs.
