Job Overview
We are seeking an Oncology/Hematology Registered Nurse clinical expert with advanced specialized knowledge and judgement for delivery of high quality and evidence-based care to oncology veterans and their families. Seeking an RN with 3 years experience in infusion, med/surg and oncology with ONS chemotherapy/Biotherapy certification.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate access to Hematology/Oncology care, assess new patients, devise care plans, deliver direct care, and coordinate disease processes and care.
- Administer parenteral chemotherapy, biotherapy, and hormonal therapy as well as supportive infusions therapy of drugs and blood products.
- Coordinate care plans with oncologists, hematologists, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes.
- Maintain vascular access devices and operate ambulatory infusion pumps..
- Manage complex symptom control including acute pain management, infection prevention, and side effect mitigation during treatments like IV infusions.
- Utilize electronic health record (EHR) system, CPRS, VISTA and BCMA to document care activities accurately and efficiently.
- Support patients through emotional and physical challenges associated with cancer diagnoses by providing compassionate triage and behavioral health support when needed.
Qualifications
- Current, full, active and unrestricted RN license.
- US Citizenship.
- Graduate of a school of professional nursing which at the time of graduation was accredited by ACEN or CCNE.
- ONS chemotherapy/biotherapy certification preferred.
- ACLS.
- Extensive experience in oncology nursing or hematology care, including familiarity with chemotherapy administration, IV insertion, aseptic technique, and sterile processing procedures.
- Strong understanding of physiology, anatomy, pharmacology related to cancer treatments, and diagnostic evaluation techniques.
Pay: $76,484.00 - $137,614.00 per year
