Position Overview
The Asst. GM will lead the daily operations of Rally Builds’ fabrication shop and warehouse, ensuring all projects are executed safely, efficiently, and to the creative standard our clients expect. This role balances hands-on shop leadership, project oversight, financial management, and client interaction. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver who can guide a team from design handoff to finished product, manage client expectations, and keep projects on time and on budget while fostering a culture of craftsmanship and innovation.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Estimating: Prepare accurate cost and labor estimates based on design concepts, fabrication requirements, and installation needs.
- Project Management Oversight: Lead projects from concept through completion, coordinating with design teams, fabricators, and event staff to ensure deadlines, budgets, and quality standards are met.
- Client Communication: Maintain transparent and consistent communication with clients, providing updates, managing change orders, and ensuring expectations are exceeded.
- Hourly Worker Management: Supervise, schedule, and mentor shop staff and contractors; enforce safety standards and cultivate a collaborative, high-performance environment.
- Budget Tracking: Monitor budgets, labor hours, and material usage to ensure profitability and efficiency.
- Materials Sourcing & Inventory: Source and negotiate with vendors for high-quality materials, manage warehouse inventory, and optimize shop layout for workflow efficiency.
- Craftsmanship & Brand Integrity: Apply creative thinking and ingenuity to build projects, designing assets for large-scale fan festivals with efficient assembly and disassembly in mind.
- New Business Development: Identify and pursue new opportunities, nurture client relationships, and support proposal and pitch development.
Qualifications
- 5 years of experience in a fabrication, experiential marketing, production, or construction environment, with at least 2 years in a management role.
- Proven experience in project estimation, budgeting, and cost control.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple, fast-paced projects.
- Skilled at supervising and motivating hourly or skilled trade workers.
- Knowledge of fabrication methods, materials sourcing, and shop safety standards.
- Excellent communication skills for both client-facing and internal collaboration.
- Demonstrated ability to translate creative designs into efficient, build-ready plans.
