The Senior Director of Software Engineering partners closely with the VP of R&D and collaborates cross-functionally with leaders in Product Management, Professional Services, and Marketing. This role is responsible for leading high-performing software engineering teams focused on Tektronix’s off-scope software portfolio. The ideal candidate brings a strong analytical mindset, a proven track record of delivering impactful technical solutions, and the ability to lead across distributed teams. Success in this role requires exceptional prioritization skills, adaptability in a dynamic environment, and a disciplined, process-driven approach to execution. 

 

What You Will Do

- Build and scale a high-performing software engineering team with strong technical and leadership talent 

- Lead multiple agile teams using SCRUM, ensuring clear priorities, transparency, and delivery momentum 

- Set technical direction in partnership with architecture and product teams, mentor engineers and managers across the org 

- Drive a culture of urgency, accountability, and excellence—delivering high-quality software on time 

- Champion innovation and experimentation to deliver best-in-class, user-centric products 

- Partner across R&D and business functions to align strategy, execution, and value creation 

- Advocate for scalable systems and automation to unlock long-term efficiency and growth 

- Stay deeply connected to customer needs and pain points, ensuring the team delivers practical, solutions-focused outcomes 

- Inspire creative problem-solving and challenge the status quo with bold, forward-thinking ideas 

- Navigate and resolve complex organizational challenges with clarity and confidence 

- Build diverse, well-rounded teams that amplify individual strengths and collective impact 

 

Who You Are 

- 8 years software engineering management experience 

- 6 years hands on software development/testing experience 

- Strong technical skills in at least three of these areas: Java, .NET, C#, JavaScript, SQL Server, Oracle Databases 

- Demonstrated experience working with geographically dispersed teams 

- Experience building and scaling teams and systems 

- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills 

- Ability to thrive under pressure and function effectively in a fast-paced environment 

- Project management using agile development practices Desired Skills/Experience 

- Knowledgeable about modern software development paradigms including Cloud, Big Data and CI/CD 

- Successful lead role in developing enterprise application frameworks in a shared services model 

- Thorough understanding of web based scalable, redundant technologies

Bonus or Equity
This position is also eligible for bonus as part of the total compensation package.

Pay Range
The salary range for this position (in local currency) is 208,300.00 - 386,800.00
