Why this role matters
As our Senior Purchasing Manager, you’ll own the entire purchasing lifecycle—from vendor recruitment and bid management to negotiation, award, and ongoing performance. You’ll partner closely with Construction, Product Development, and Accounting to deliver projects on time and on budget, and play a key role in building better communities.
What you’ll do
- Lead vendor strategy: Target trades, recruit vendors, manage bid requests, and recommend award decisions to leadership.
- Negotiate and finalize contracts: Prepare, review, and approve bid packages; communicate contract and specification requirements; uphold integrity in bid, negotiation, and award processes.
- Monitor performance & resolve issues: Maintain vendor, contract, and product data; oversee evaluations; resolve disputes in both crisis and non‑crisis scenarios.
- Own cost and market intelligence: Maintain monthly construction cost estimates by geography; track variances; recommend adjustments; stay current on market trends and technologies.
- Drive continuous improvement: Identify new products/models/options to improve quality and reduce costs; implement best practices to enhance efficiency.
- Coach a high‑performing team: Manage direct reports and facilitate quarterly performance evaluations for divisional Purchasing staff. What sets you apart

What you’ll bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management (or similar field).
- 8–10 years’ experience in purchasing/procurement within the construction industry/market. [
- Strength in reading complex financial, technical, and administrative documentation; excellent analytical, decision‑making, and communication skills.
- Knowledge of construction processes, materials, and blueprint reading; experience with procurement systems (BuilderMT or Timberline preferred).
- Proven leadership, strategic thinking, negotiation, and contract management capabilities; ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders and lead cross‑functional initiatives.

Caruso Homes offers a competitive compensation package. Compensation may include a base salary, eligibility for performance-based bonuses, and commission structures where applicable. All compensation plans are subject to change based on market conditions and company policy. Commissions and bonuses are paid according to the terms outlined in individual agreements, and eligibility may depend on assignment and completion of specific milestones.
