Quality Engineer – Ford Product Launch

Automotive Electronics | Temp-to-Direct | $40–$43/hour

We are seeking an experienced Automotive Quality Engineer to support the launch and production readiness of electronic and electromechanical products for Ford Motor Company.

This is a launch-focused Quality Engineering position, not a general inspection or production-quality role. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving Ford-specific quality requirements throughout the product-launch process, coordinating quality deliverables across engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, testing, and customer teams until the program is approved for production.

The ideal candidate will have direct experience working within the Ford Supplier Portal, managing Ford Schedule A / eAPQP, and supporting automotive programs through APQP, PPAP, validation, and final production approval.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain Ford Schedule A / eAPQP launch requirements and milestone timing.
• Track completion of customer-required launch gates, supporting documentation, and approvals.
• Coordinate APQP and PPAP activities from program development through production launch.
• Support and monitor:
• DFMEA and PFMEA activities
• Process feasibility and manufacturing readiness
• Control Plans
• Tooling readiness
• Prototype and validation results
• Gauge R&R / MSA activities
• Process-capability studies
• Run-at-Rate activities
• Production validation
• Supplier readiness
• Packaging approvals
• PPAP submission and approval
• Maintain accurate completion dates and supporting evidence within Ford-required systems.
• Identify launch-quality risks, delays, or incomplete requirements and drive appropriate follow-up actions.
• Coordinate corrective actions and resolution of supplier, process, testing, and product-quality concerns.
• Communicate launch status and outstanding requirements with Ford representatives, internal engineering teams, manufacturing personnel, suppliers, and program management.
• Support compliance with Ford Customer-Specific Requirements and applicable automotive quality standards.
• Assist with special-process assessments and customer-required compliance activities when applicable.
• Maintain launch documentation and ensure quality requirements are completed prior to production approval.

Required Qualifications

• Direct, hands-on experience supporting automotive product launches for Ford.
• Experience using the Ford Supplier Portal.
• Direct working knowledge of Ford Schedule A / eAPQP.
• Strong knowledge of APQP and PPAP processes.
• Experience supporting a Ford automotive program through launch, validation, PPAP, and production approval.
• Understanding of Ford Customer-Specific Requirements.
• Experience coordinating quality activities across engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, and customers.
• Ability to manage multiple launch deadlines, documentation requirements, testing activities, supplier issues, and corrective actions simultaneously.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, documentation, organization, and follow-up skills.

Previous employment with Ford or a Ford supplier alone does not constitute the required experience; candidates should have been directly responsible for Ford launch-quality activities and deliverables.

• Corrective Action / Root Cause Analysis
• Process capability and statistical quality methods

An Engineering degree is preferred and may be required depending on experience. Candidates without an engineering degree may be considered if they possess extensive and directly relevant Ford launch-quality experience.

Advanced Quality Engineer | Launch Quality Engineer | Customer Quality Engineer | APQP Engineer | Program Quality Engineer | Supplier Quality Engineer

We are particularly interested in engineers who have worked for Ford Tier 1 or Tier 2 suppliers and have taken ownership of quality requirements during new-product introduction.

What Success Looks Like

The Quality Engineer will ensure that the product, manufacturing process, suppliers, testing, documentation, and customer approvals are fully aligned and production-ready before launch.

This position requires someone who can take ownership of the quality side of a Ford program, maintain visibility of every critical launch requirement, proactively address gaps, and drive the program toward successful PPAP and production approval.
