Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Medical Director to lead our Hospital Medicine program in Syracuse, NY. This leadership opportunity is ideal for a forward-thinking physician who is passionate about delivering high-quality inpatient care, optimizing clinical operations, and supporting a collaborative hospitalist team.

This position follows a 7 on / 7 off block schedule with no on-call responsibilities, offering strong work–life balance. The Medical Director will also provide clinical coverage while overseeing hospitalist operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct inpatient care during scheduled shifts (7 AM – 7 PM).
• Lead and support a hospitalist team collectively managing 40–50 patients daily.
• Make daily rounds on assigned patients (avg. 12–15 per physician).
• Oversee admissions, rapid responses, and codes.
• Collaborate with intensivists in an open ICU with 24/7 consultation support.
• Conduct histories, physicals, assessments, and documentation via Paragon EMR.
• Coordinate care with attending physicians, specialists, and hospital staff.
• Drive operational and quality improvement initiatives.
• Participate in scheduling, onboarding, and recruitment of hospitalist providers.
• Promote teamwork, communication, and patient-centered care.
• No trauma designation responsibilities and no on-call duties.

• Board Eligible (must be certified within 2 years) or Board Certified in IM or FM — Required
• Active NY license or willingness to obtain — Required
• Clean malpractice and licensure history — Required
• DEA, BLS, ACLS, PALS — Required
• Visa support disclosure — Required (Visa candidates not accepted)
• Comfortable in an open ICU with intensivist support — Required
