Job Overview
The Compliance Specialist I is responsible for supporting the organization’s compliance and ethics program by investigating alleged misconduct, promoting adherence to company policies and regulatory requirements, and helping maintain a culture of integrity and accountability. This role assists in developing, implementing, and monitoring compliance standards, controls, and procedures designed to reduce regulatory risk, unethical behavior, and non-compliant activities across the organization. The Compliance Specialist I works closely with internal stakeholders to ensure compliance expectations are effectively communicated, understood, and integrated into business operations while supporting ongoing monitoring and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct investigations into alleged misconduct, policy violations, and compliance-related concerns.
- Gather, review, and analyze information, documentation, and evidence related to compliance investigations.
- Assist in establishing and maintaining compliance standards, controls, policies, and procedures to mitigate regulatory and operational risk.
- Support the implementation of programs designed to promote ethical conduct and compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.
- Monitor compliance activities and identify potential areas of risk or non-compliance.
- Document findings, prepare reports, and communicate recommendations for corrective actions when appropriate.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure compliance requirements are incorporated into business processes and practices.
- Support compliance audits, assessments, and monitoring activities.
- Assist in the development and delivery of compliance-related communications, training, and awareness initiatives.
- Maintain accurate records of investigations, compliance activities, and program documentation.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of compliance processes, controls, and reporting practices.
- Promote a culture of ethics, integrity, and accountability throughout the organization.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Legal Studies, Compliance, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field.
- Experience supporting compliance, ethics, risk management, investigations, audit, human resources, legal, or regulatory functions is preferred.
- Knowledge of compliance principles, regulatory requirements, and corporate governance practices.
- Strong analytical and investigative skills with the ability to assess information objectively and identify potential risks.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and organizational levels.
- Demonstrated integrity, sound judgment, and commitment to ethical business practices.
