As we continue to expand, we are seeking an experienced Controller to lead our accounting and financial operations.

This is a key leadership role for an individual who enjoys building processes, improving financial visibility, and contributing to strategic business decisions.

Position Summary

The Controller will work closely with the Director of Operations to oversee all accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, inventory accounting, cash management, and compliance functions for the company. The successful candidate will be a hands-on financial leader capable of supporting day-to-day accounting operations while providing strategic financial insight to company leadership.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience in distribution, inventory accounting, manufacturing, logistics, or chemical-related industries.

Responsibilities

  • Lead all accounting operations including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, General Ledger, and Fixed Assets
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Manage month-end and year-end close processes
  • Oversee inventory accounting, reconciliations, and valuation
  • Monitor product margins, freight costs, and operational expenses
  • Develop annual budgets and financial forecasts
  • Provide monthly financial analysis and variance reporting
  • Manage cash flow, banking relationships, and working capital
  • Establish and maintain strong internal controls
  • Coordinate tax reporting and external audits
  • Support strategic planning, pricing decisions, and business growth initiatives
  • Supervise and develop accounting and administrative staff
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable financial and regulatory requirements

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Minimum 7 years of progressive accounting experience
  • Minimum 3 years in a Controller, Assistant Controller, Accounting Manager, or similar leadership role
  • Strong understanding of GAAP
  • Experience with inventory accounting and financial reporting
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

Preferred

  • CPA designation
  • Experience in chemical distribution, wholesale distribution, manufacturing, logistics, or industrial services
  • Experience with ERP systems and inventory management software
  • Multi-entity accounting experience
  • Experience working in a privately held company environment
