What are the responsibilities and job description for the Materials Manager position at Rainmaker Technology Corporation?

Rainmaker is pioneering a modern cloud seeding system to solve water scarcity and inclement weather problems. We develop and incorporate radar validation, weather-resistant UAS, numerical weather modeling, and sustainable cloud seeds into an effective precipitation enhancement solution.


You will be one of the first members of the growing Supply Chain organization. The Supply Chain team owns everything from initial demand and supply planning to part delivery to the manufacturing floor and logistics to domestic sites.


The Material Manager is a highly organized and detail oriented individual that is responsible for managing inventory across multiple locations, coordinating receiving, and assisting in shipping operations to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and alignment with business objectives.


The ideal candidate should be versatile, a clear communicator, able to handle multiple tasks, and enjoy working in a fast paced environment. Additionally, this role will be shaping the future of how material will flow across the enterprise, so a great candidate will have a track record in building, implementing and adjusting enterprise-wide processes.


This role involves monitoring inventory transactions, resolving discrepancies, implementing S&R process improvements, and supporting cross-functional teams. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, experience with ERP (Netsuite) and WMS systems, and a keen eye for detail to drive accuracy and operational efficiency. This position will involve a balance of inventory management duties with active participation in shipping planning and receiving coordination as well as production material management.

What You'll Do
  • Oversee production control & work order release to manufacturing cells.Generate, monitor and develop action for internal operating metrics involving inventory.
  • Maintain the integrity of inventory data within the ERP system, ensuring accuracy and real time visibility for the organization’s decision making.
  • Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to improve accuracy and efficiency.
  • Develop and manage the process for inventory adjustments, cycle counts, and reconciliations.
  • Develop and manage the process for shipping, including packing, labeling, and scheduling shipments.
  • Ensure timely and efficient receiving of incoming packages; inspecting shipments for accuracy and quality.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including procurement, engineering, research and production, to streamline workflows and optimize stock levels.
  • Support ERP inventory module functions, including data entry, troubleshooting, and reporting.
  • Develop processes around order fulfillment and returns.
  • Train end users on inventory processes, ERP system functionalities, and shipping/receiving processes.


Required Qualifications
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in inventory control, warehouse operations, or supply chain management in a manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience with ERP/ WMS systems (e.g., Epicor, SAP, NetSuite, Oracle).
  • Experience building and leading a team of material handlers, and technicians.
  • Experience in a fast paced manufacturing environment.
  • Proven track record of independent execution.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills, with the ability to resolve issues effectively.
  • Effective communication skills to work cross-functionally with different teams and departments.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration or related field Certification in inventory management or ERP systems (e.g., CPIM, CSCP, or ERP-specific training).
  • Experience with Lean Six Sigma methodologies or other process improvement frameworks.
  • Knowledge of safety and regulatory compliance standards related to material management activities
  • Experience operating forklifts and other inventory equipment.
  • Experience in Aerospace or similar industry with ESD (electro-static discharge), mag-safe and other material handling precautions.
  • Experience designing material handling processes and procedures.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of inventory best practices, including FIFO, cycle counting, and demand forecasting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis tools for inventory tracking and reporting.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills to manage large volumes of data.
