Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Front Desk Agent to join our healthcare facility. The ideal candidate will serve as the first point of contact for patients and visitors, providing exceptional customer service while managing administrative tasks efficiently. This role requires strong communication skills, familiarity with medical office operations, and proficiency with various electronic health record (EHR) systems. Experience in medical billing, coding, and office management is highly valued to ensure smooth clinic operations and compliance with healthcare regulations such as HIPAA.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients and visitors warmly, ensuring a positive experience at every interaction.
- Manage patient check-in and check-out processes accurately using EMR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, Dentrix, Eaglesoft, and other EHR platforms.
- Verify insurance coverage and perform insurance verification procedures efficiently.
- Schedule appointments and coordinate patient flow to optimize clinic operations.
- Handle multi-line phone systems with professionalism, providing excellent phone etiquette and patient service.
- Maintain accurate medical records, including documentation review and data entry using HIPAA-compliant procedures.
- Assist with billing processes, including CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding, and Medicare documentation review.
- Support medical administrative functions such as filing, data entry (including 10 key typing), and managing office supplies.
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations related to health information management and documentation standards.
- Collaborate with clinical staff to facilitate care plans and patient intake procedures.
- Perform clerical tasks such as faxing, scanning, and maintaining organized medical records.
- Utilize computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite for report generation and administrative correspondence.
Qualifications
- Prior experience in a medical office or clinic setting is preferred; dental or hospital experience is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-9/10), CPT coding, and Medicare guidelines.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems including Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, Dentrix, Eaglesoft is highly desirable.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to handle patient inquiries professionally.
- Bilingual abilities are a plus to serve diverse patient populations effectively.
- Proficiency in computer skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and typing (including 10 key).
- Knowledge of health information management standards and HIPAA compliance requirements.
- Previous experience in medical billing or insurance verification is advantageous.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in documentation review and data entry tasks.
