We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated CNC Programmer Operator to join our dynamic manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for programming, setting up, and operating CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machines to produce precision components that meet strict quality standards. Your expertise in CNC programming, tooling, and machining processes will drive efficiency and excellence on the shop floor. Responsibilities
- Develop and modify CNC programs using CAM and CAD tools ensuring optimal machining strategies. Specifically, VCarve, DraftSight, and woodWOP.
- Performs setup and operates on 3 and 5 axis machining centers, including Horizontal Mills, with minimal supervision. Additionally, band saws, laser etchers, laser-cutters, and other equipment.
- Conduct precision measurements using tools such as bore gauges, height gauge, micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM) to verify part dimensions against specifications.
- Read and interpret complex blueprints, schematics, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), and technical drawings to ensure accurate machining processes.
- Troubleshoot machining issues related to tooling, geometry, or machine performance; perform routine and preventative maintenance on CNC equipment.
- Implement lean manufacturing principles to optimize workflows, reduce waste, and improve overall productivity. Collaborate with shop personnel to optimize setups and improve efficiency, including the ability to suggest ideas for new part implementation and improvements to existing jobs.
- Provide clear documentation and notes for operators.
- Inspects and ensures parts are being machined to specifications and ensures high quality standards are being maintained.
- Maintains clean and orderly work area and professionalism in both appearance and demeanor.
- Train and mentor junior CNC operators on setup, operation, and programming techniques
- All positions work in a team environment to produce high quality composite parts in a timely manner.
- Notifies Supervisor of discrepancies.
Qualifications
- 3 Years proven experience setting up, programming, and operating CNC machines in a manufacturing environment.
- Expertise in CNC programming with CAM and CAD tools. Specifically, VCarve, DraftSight, and woodWOP. Experience and familiarity with CorelDRAW is required.
- Excellent understanding of blueprint reading, schematics, GD&T principles, and mechanical drawings.
- Skilled in using precision measuring instruments such as bore gauges, height gauges, micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM).
- Knowledge of tooling selection, setup procedures, electrical discharge machining (EDM), and machining best practices.
- Mechanical aptitude with a solid understanding of geometry, schematics, electrical systems related to manufacturing equipment.
- Ability to interpret math calculations necessary for precise machining operations; strong problem-solving skills.
- Experience working within lean manufacturing environments focused on continuous improvement initiatives.
- Knowledge of Homag and Multicam machines and G&M code is helpful.
- Technical Certificate in Manufacturing or related industry is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of machining processes, tooling, materials, and tolerances
- Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings, models, and technical specifications
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work with precision and accuracy, along with exceptional problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex machining issues and optimize CNC programs
- Effective communication and leadership skills, with the ability to lead and coordinate machining projects
- High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required. Applicants must present proof of US Person status prior to hire.
- Applicants must show a stable work history, preferably in manufacturing and ability to work well with others in a team-oriented environment.
- A post-offer drug test is required.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; have manual dexterity; and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to walk, talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must be able to physically lift and carry up to 50 lbs., and push/pull 40 lbs. sustained and 65 lbs. initial force for hands-on tasks. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Must have ability to operate power tools and machines with moving parts.
- CNC machine certification a plus.
