Position Summary
We are seeking a Retail Systems Business Analyst to serve as a critical liaison between store operations and IT. This role bridges the gap between end users and technical teams, ensuring that retail systems effectively support day-to-day store operations. The ideal candidate will bring strong functional knowledge of retail processes and enterprise systems, along with a passion for improving workflows, supporting users, and documenting best practices.
Key Responsibilities
· Act as the primary point of contact for functional questions and issues related to retail systems
· Support store operations teams with daily system usage, troubleshooting, and process guidance
· Translate business needs into clearly defined requirements for IT and development teams
· Triage and resolve issues when possible; escalate complex technical problems appropriately
· Serve as a bridge between end users and technical teams
· Communicate system capabilities, limitations, and enhancements in business-friendly terms
· Partner with IT to prioritize enhancements and ensure alignment with operational needs
· Participate in testing of system enhancements, updates, and bug fixes
· Develop and execute test plans to validate functionality and ensure business requirements are met
· Identify defects, document findings, and coordinate resolution with IT teams
· Create and maintain clear, user-friendly documentation for system processes
· Build and manage a knowledge base of “how-to” guides and FAQs
· Develop division-specific documentation (e.g., PO Entry processes by merchandise category)
· Standardize best practices across departments where applicable
· Analyze current workflows and identify opportunities for efficiency and accuracy improvements
· Recommend enhancements to systems and processes to better support store operations
· Help drive adoption of new tools, features, and procedures
Qualifications
Required
· 3–7 years of experience in retail operations, retail systems, or business analysis
· Strong understanding of brick-and-mortar retail processes (e.g., merchandising, purchasing, inventory, store operations)
· Experience working with enterprise retail ERP systems
· Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
· Ability to translate technical concepts into practical, user-friendly guidance
Preferred
· Experience with Island Pacific ERP on IBM i (AS/400) systems
· Familiarity with other Tier 1 retail ERP platforms (e.g., Oracle Retail, SAP, Blue Yonder/JDA)
· Experience in QA/testing processes and tools
· Background in apparel or multi-category retail environments
