Lead Restoration Technician – Water Mitigation & Mold Remediation

Rainbow Restoration of Deerwood | Jacksonville, FL

Full-Time | Experienced Field Leader | Career Growth Opportunities

About Us

Rainbow Restoration of Deerwood is a locally owned restoration company serving Jacksonville, St. Augustine, and surrounding communities. We specialize in water mitigation, structural drying, mold remediation, and property restoration for residential and commercial customers.

Our reputation depends on doing quality work, treating customers with respect, and delivering professional results when people need us most.

We're building a team of skilled, dependable professionals who take pride in their work, hold themselves accountable, and believe in doing things right the first time.

The Opportunity

We're looking for an experienced Lead Restoration Technician who knows how to run a restoration job—not someone who still needs to learn how to lead one.

This is a hands-on field leadership position for someone who can independently execute water mitigation and mold remediation projects, direct crew members, make sound technical decisions, and ensure jobs are completed safely, efficiently, and to company standards.

You'll work alongside your crew while taking responsibility for job-site execution, equipment management, documentation, customer communication, and quality control.

We value technicians who take initiative, solve problems, and don't need constant supervision to get things done correctly.

If you're already a Lead Technician or Crew Chief looking for a company where your experience, leadership, and work ethic matter, we'd like to hear from you.

What You'll Be Responsible For

Field Leadership & Job Execution

  • Independently lead water mitigation, structural drying, mold remediation, and selective demolition projects.
  • Direct daily job-site activities, assign tasks, and ensure crews work safely and productively.
  • Perform water extraction, moisture mapping, equipment setup, drying monitoring, and equipment removal.
  • Establish proper containment, negative air, and HEPA filtration for mold remediation projects.
  • Make sound field decisions regarding drying strategy, equipment placement, and job progression.
  • Identify scope changes, unforeseen conditions, and potential problems early, communicating them to management before they cause delays or rework.
  • Support other emergency restoration services, including board-ups, tarping, and contents handling, as needed.

Documentation & Quality Control

  • Complete accurate daily job documentation, including moisture readings, drying logs, photographs, work orders, and job notes.
  • Use digital job management tools to maintain timely, complete project records.
  • Ensure all work follows company procedures, applicable IICRC standards, and safety requirements.
  • Perform job-site quality checks and ensure work areas are clean, organized, and ready for the next phase.
  • Take ownership of completing jobs correctly the first time.

Crew Leadership & Development

  • Lead by example through strong technical skills, professionalism, and work ethic.
  • Train, coach, and mentor restoration technicians and helpers.
  • Set clear expectations for productivity, safety, job-site cleanliness, and workmanship.
  • Hold crew members accountable for completing assigned work and following procedures.
  • Communicate performance issues and training needs to management.

Customer Communication

  • Communicate clearly and professionally with homeowners, tenants, property managers, and other customers.
  • Explain the restoration process, work being performed, and what customers should expect.
  • Keep management informed of job progress, customer concerns, and changing site conditions.
  • Represent Rainbow Restoration professionally in every customer interaction.

Equipment & Vehicle Management

  • Ensure drying and remediation equipment is properly installed, operated, monitored, and maintained.
  • Maintain accurate equipment tracking and accountability.
  • Keep company vehicles, tools, and equipment clean, organized, and ready for service.
  • Minimize avoidable equipment damage, wasted labor, and unnecessary return visits.

Required Qualifications

This position requires prior restoration field leadership experience.

  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in water mitigation and property restoration.
  • At least 1 year of demonstrated experience as a Lead Restoration Technician, Crew Chief, or equivalent restoration field leader.
  • Current IICRC Water Restoration Technician (WRT) certification.
  • Proven ability to independently lead water mitigation projects from initial response through drying completion.
  • Strong knowledge of water extraction, structural drying, moisture monitoring, and drying equipment.
  • Experience directing crews, assigning work, and maintaining job-site productivity and quality.
  • Ability to complete accurate job documentation using mobile applications or digital job management systems.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Valid driver's license and driving record acceptable under company insurance requirements.
  • Ability to work in physically demanding environments, including water-damaged, mold-affected, and demolition areas.
  • Ability to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 lbs regularly and up to 75 lbs occasionally, with reasonable accommodation where applicable.
  • Availability for rotating emergency on-call assignments, including nights and weekends.

Preferred Qualifications

  • IICRC Applied Structural Drying (ASD) certification.
  • IICRC Applied Microbial Remediation Technician (AMRT) certification.
  • Experience leading mold remediation projects involving containment, negative air, HEPA filtration, and detailed cleaning.
  • Experience with insurance restoration documentation and estimating-related field measurements.
  • Familiarity with Cotality Dash/Fusion, Encircle, MICA, or similar restoration management software.
  • Experience training and developing junior restoration technicians.

Why Join Rainbow Restoration?

  • Overtime and compensation for eligible emergency response work.
  • Opportunities for additional industry training and certifications.
  • A hands-on leadership position with meaningful responsibility and authority on job sites.
  • Established operating procedures and digital job management tools.
  • Direct communication with local management.
  • Opportunities to take on broader field leadership responsibilities as the company grows.
  • A team culture built around professionalism, quality workmanship, accountability, and mutual respect.

We're a locally owned business where individual contributions are visible and strong performance matters.

Schedule & Work Location

  • Full-time, in-person field position.
  • Based in Jacksonville, Florida.
  • Primary service area includes Duval and St. Johns counties.
  • Regular weekday schedule with rotating emergency on-call assignments.
  • Availability for occasional evening, weekend, and holiday emergency response is required.
  • Travel between local job sites is required.

Who We're Looking For

The right person for this role:

  • Already knows how to lead a restoration crew.
  • Takes responsibility for job outcomes instead of waiting for instructions.
  • Understands that accurate documentation is just as important as quality fieldwork.
  • Makes good decisions about equipment, labor, safety, and job progression.
  • Leads by example and earns the respect of other technicians.
  • Communicates problems early instead of letting them become bigger issues.
  • Treats customers, teammates, and their property with professionalism and respect.
  • Takes pride in completing quality work efficiently and correctly.

We're not looking for someone who simply has years of restoration experience. We're looking for someone who has demonstrated the ability to lead people, manage field execution, and consistently deliver professional results.
