What are the responsibilities and job description for the Stained Glass/Art Glass Intern position at Rainbow Glass Inc?
We are looking for a curious, hands-on Glass Artist Intern to join our studio team. This is a rare opportunity to learn traditional and contemporary glass techniques in a working professional studio. You'll assist with commissions, participate in workshops, and develop real craft skills alongside experienced artists.
What you'll do:
- Assist in cutting, scoring, and grinding glass for stained and fused glass projects
- Support lead artists on custom commission work
- Learn soldering, leading, and copper foil techniques
- Contribute to design prep, pattern-making, and color selection
What we're looking for:
- Genuine interest in glass art
- Basic math skills, fractions, and geometry
- Willingness to learn hands-on in a studio environment
- Careful attention to safety and detail when working with tools and materials
- Positive, collaborative attitude and reliable follow-through
- Some background in visual art, design, or making is a plus
- Ability to stand for extended periods and handle glass safely
- Available for at least 8–12 hours per week to start
