Job Summary

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Early Childhood Teacher to foster a nurturing and engaging learning environment for young children. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in childhood development, classroom management, and curriculum development, with experience working with children across various age groups. Our teachers lead a Montessori-inspired classroom serving infants through preschool-aged children (4), working collaboratively with other teaching staff to provide high-quality care and learning.


This role designs and delivers play-based, developmentally appropriate experiences aligned with NAEYC standards and the Oklahoma Early Learning Guidelines. Teachers support classroom assistants and peers through mentorship, ensuring the health, safety, and developmental progress of all children in care.


Teacher positions demonstrate strong instructional skill, professional leadership, and a commitment to family partnership and regulatory compliance. This role involves designing age-appropriate lesson plans, implementing educational activities, and supporting children's social, emotional, and cognitive growth in a preschool or daycare setting.

Essential Functions for Teachers at Rainbow Fleet


Classroom Instruction & Child Development

  • Plan, design, prepare, and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum and activities that align with Montessori-inspired principles, NAEYC best practices, and Oklahoma Early Learning Guidelines.
  • Adapt lessons and materials to meet the individual needs, interests, and abilities of each child.
  • Create and maintain an environment that supports independence, problem-solving, and exploration.
  • Assess children’s developmental progress and collaborate with other teachers and program director to refine instructional approaches.

Leadership & Mentoring

  • Provide guidance, modeling, and collaborative coaching for peer and developing colleagues to strengthen instructional and caregiving practices.
  • Delegate daily responsibilities and ensure smooth classroom operation while maintaining accountability for overall quality.
  • Participate in team meetings, professional development, and peer observation to promote continuous improvement.

Family Engagement

  • Conduct regular family conferences, providing developmental feedback and strategies for continued growth at home.
  • Maintain open, professional, and supportive communication with families regarding children’s progress, needs, and achievements.
  • Collaborate with families and colleagues to create consistent support for children’s learning and well-being.

Compliance & Safety

  • Ensure all classroom activities comply with OKDHS licensing standards, NAEYC accreditation guidelines, and internal safety policies.
  • Monitor child-to-staff ratios and classroom supervision to guarantee safety at all times.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation including attendance, incident reports, and developmental records.
  • Support preparation for program audits and quality rating assessments as directed.

Qualifications



Required

  • Certificate of Mastery or Child Development Associate (CDA) credential. Note, in process credentials may be considered if near completion.
  • Associate’s degree in early childhood education, child development, or related field, or equivalent level of coursework hours towards a bachelor’s degree in same.
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of professional early childhood experience, including colleague mentoring, development, curriculum support, and/or lead teaching responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of Montessori-informed practices and NAEYC developmentally appropriate practice
  • Current Infant/Child CPR and First Aid certification
  • Ability to pass required background check, drug screen, and health screening.

Preferred

  • Oklahoma Teacher’s Certificate or advanced degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field.
  • Six (6) or more years of professional early childhood experience, including colleague mentoring, development, curriculum support, and/or lead teaching responsibilities.
  • Experience in a Montessori or NAEYC-accredited early learning program.
  • Experience supporting accreditation processes
  • Bilingual proficiency (English/Spanish).

Environmental & Physical Requirements (ADA Standards)

  • Ability to move throughout the classroom and center frequently, and for extended periods, engaging actively with children at their level (standing, sitting on floor, kneeling, bending, or squatting).
  • Ability to lift, carry, and position children and materials up to 30 pounds frequently and occasionally up to 50 pounds with assistance.
  • Ability to supervise and participate in outdoor learning activities in various weather conditions.
  • Frequent exposure to childhood illnesses and moderate occupational risk of exposure to bloodborne pathogens or other potentially infectious materials (PPE provided).
  • Visual, auditory, and verbal acuity sufficient to ensure children’s safety, recognize hazards, and respond quickly in emergencies.
  • Frequent use of hands, fingers, and wrists for writing, typing, and managing classroom materials and documentation tasks.
  • Frequent administrative tasks include sitting at a computer, filing, and completing documentation.
